She smiled as news of more and more land were getting taken over by her SkyTroops, she loved hearing of victory. "Martes?" she cooed, "still think we won't win over Vinyash?" Martes looked up at her and shook his head. "With the way we force them back is magnificent Queen Firsa, I can't wait until we control all of the swamp land in Vinyash!" Firsa laughed.
"I can't either to be honest, and all of their FightGators will be forced to fight for us once we capture that pathetic Gator Queen Senkire" she growled, "with her on our side we'll become the most powerful kingdom in all of Nigh!" she laughed maniacally. "Yes but I still have doubts" a chill male voice said from the darkness in one of the rocky corners, "oh how can you still have doubts Lenver, when we're winning so easily!" he walked out of the shadows with his brown eagle wings folded at his sides. "That's just it Firsa, we're winning too easily, don't you think that's a little odd?" he raised an eyebrow at her.
"You bring up a good point but that could just mean we're way too strong for their FightGators, in that case, who cares?" she chuckled to herself before standing up and walking out onto her balcony. "Ya know Martes, I was starting to have doubts about you" he swallowed nervously, "y-you were?" Firsa looked back at him.
"Yes I did, but after you said that we should still train our SkyTroops just in case my doubts have ceased to exist" Martes eased up a little bit, "r-really?" Firsa turned to face him, one of her polished blades out and at her side, Martes looked frightened and alarmed. "No, not really" and with one swift, quick movement the blade slid across his throat and a shower of blood spattered across her face, Lenver looked shocked and stood unmoving in fear of him being next.
She wiped the blood from her blade with one of her large black wings and slid it back into its holster as she said "there's no need to be afraid Lenver" she looked at him with her brown eyes. "Your answer was the right one" he looked confused, "you see Lenver, if you are truly one of my loyal FlightGuards then you would most certainly have doubts about my strategy, him however..." she trailed off as she looked back at Martes with a look of pure shock and fear frozen on his face.
"Didn't seem to doubt me one bit and he always seemed to be missing when he was 'just taking a walk'" Lenver eased and smiled. "A spy?" Firsa nodded, "it was obvious, you sensed it to didn't you?" Lenver shrugged.
"I guess I did now that you mention it, I just always though he was the type of crow that was smart yet scared of his own shadow" he laughed a little, Firsa smiled and walked back out onto the balcony. "Shall I dispose of him?" Firsa shook her head slowly, "not just yet Lenver, I want to make sure who ever he was a spy for gets the message" Lenver smiled slyly, "sounds like a plan" and he flew up to one of the stray perches above the throne room."Lenver!" he looked up and around and noticed Flintra sitting next to him, her white wings seemed to be glowing under the moon light. "What?" she gestured for him to follow her and he did so.
"Come on, help me carry him" Lenver looked down at the corpse and sighed, "where are we taking him?" she lifted one end and he grabbed the other. "Firsa told us we had to mark our borders with his blood as a warning to-" Lenver laughed, "to send the other kingdoms a message I got it" she nodded before spreading her wings and taking flight, Lenver followed.
"So how are we going to do this?" Flintra pulled out her blade and put it up against Martes' throat. "We already have a cut wound here so we just cut his head off and hold his legs and let the blood drain from him" Lenver smiled, "nice, that'll make it a lot easier, and you know what else we should do?" Flintra smirked.
"No what?" Lenver looked into the night sky, "oh I don't know, maybe drop the head along one of our borders" he looked over at Flintra, "that sounds like a great idea! Let's do it!" they both laughed and flew around their territory spilling the spy's blood along as they went."That didn't take as long as I thought it would" he said as he landed on the balcony of Ditra Castle along with Flintra. "It didn't did it? we didn't forget about a border did we?" Lenver thought about that for a moment as he walked inside.
"No I don't believe so, I'm sure we got them all, do you think we should've left his limbs lying around as well?" Flintra nodded, "it's what Firsa said to do" Lenver shrugged and flew up to the same perch he was on before. Flintra flew up to another perch across the room.
Lenver was afraid of Firsa, if you were called "suspicious" then Firsa would have you killed. Anything that made her suspect you as a spy or a traitor then she would find some way to end you, even if you tried to avoid death it would still come and find you. Lenver wasn't the only one that was afraid of Firsa, many people of the Glider Villages feared Firsa, the main reason was she was ruthless and coldhearted. Underneath her coldhearted nature she was a real sweet heart, that's the side Lenver admired. She was one of the prettiest Ravens he had ever seen, she was perfect in every way.
He understood she needed to come on as ruthless and coldhearted to remind her Gliders she rules over them all, but if you were to meet her and have a nice chat you would realize she was only doing that for show."Lenver, Flintra!" Firsa called from her throne below, Lenver and Flintra quickly dove down to the floor and saluted Firsa. "Yes Firsa" they said together, Firsa smiled at them.
"You did what asked didn't you?" they both nodded, Firsa relaxed and so did they. "No trouble?" they shook their heads, "no one saw you?" they shook their heads, Firsa relaxed even more. "Good, that's good to hear, before you go off and do whatever can you do me a favor?" they nodded again, "can you go see my dear friend Grevan and ask him for kifli berries?" Lenver understood immediately what she was asking for, Flintra however had no clue but nodded anyway and so did Lenver but a little more slowly. "Thank you" she winked at him before he turned and flew out through the balcony. As they got closer and closer to Grevan, Lenver became more and more depressed. Lenver knew what was about to happen to Flintra, he just never thought she would be next to get killed off by Firsa. Lenver sighed as he saw the smoke billowing from Grevan, once they were over it Lenver stopped and Flintra stopped confused.
"What are doing Lenver? We have to get to Grevan" he sighed, "this is Grevan" she looked even more confused and worried. "Lenver, what are you talking about?" he rolled his eyes, "you have no idea what kifli berries are do you?" she shook her head. "They're made from the first two letters of 'kill' and the first three letters of someones' name, 'Flintra' for example" she hung in midair terrified.
"You mean, she wants me...?" she trailed off, "I'm afraid so..." she tried to fly away quickly but Lenver was quicker and snatched her leg in his strong talon of a hand. She fought fiercely but Lenver had done this before and was used to the thrashing, frantic movements of Firsa's targets. He slid his blade calmly out of its holster and held it in his mouth as he grabbed one of Flintra's wings with the other. With her wing tight in his grasp he grabbed the knife from his mouth and sliced the tendons and nerves where the wing met her back, he did the same with the other and then flew into Grevan.
"Why are you doing this!?" she squealed, "why must you do her bidding!?" he looked at her with cold eyes, "so I don't end up like you..." with that he let go of her and watched as she fell into the burning lava below. He stayed there a little longer making sure she had died before he went and proclaimed she was dead. He waited until her screams and desperate cries for help ceased before flying back out and toward Ditra Castle.
He didn't feel as sad as he had nor did he feel happy, he felt numb. Lenver knew he wouldn't like being the assassin of the queen but it did have its perks. He was always a "numb to feeling guy" and that's why Firsa chose him to do her bidding.
She trusted him with every task she gave and Lenver followed ever command making him one of her favorites. Once you were on her "favorites" list there was no chance you'd get sent to fetch some kind of berry from Grevan."You're back" Firsa said happily as she noticed only he returned, blood stained and as numb as ever. He nodded and walked closer to her, "so, you've done it again Lenver, I thank you" he saluted her before asking, "why her?" Firsa saw this question coming and provided her true answer.
"You really want to know why?" she asked as she walked up to her throne and sat down, "I caught her snooping around my throne room last night before she went to get you" Lenver looked at her in surprise.
"I never thought Flintra to be a traitor but I guess it could really be anyone we know, couldn't it?" Firsa nodded. "Correct, you're a smart one who doesn't ask many questions" she looked out on of the castles many windows, "I like that..." she trailed off in thought and Lenver flew out onto the balcony and watched the nearby GliderVillage as he thought to himself where did everything go wrong?
