Alexandre and Nicolas were very happy. Their three kids were doing well in school and they finally had time for themselves again. They didn't have any more children. They were content with the ones they had. It was nice being able to reconnect without the kids interrupting them, especially the twins. They loved to bicker with each other.

It always felt like the minute they even held hands the kids would act up or need them. Even when they were supposed to be sleeping. The older they got the better it got, unless they were left alone for too long or hormones were acting up. They were good kids but they had their mischievous moments. Usually when Alex and Nick were trying to have a moment to themselves.

Alex sat on the couch. He was curled up with a blanket around him. He was staring off into space. It had been so long since the kids weren't there. Sure they had sleepovers and spent the day with the others but never this long. Usually when they had those rare moments Nick showed him how much he missed him. They never were just alone like this. He wasn't sure what to do.

He was so deep in thought that he failed to notice his mate walking in. Nicolas had returned home from work. He found his mate in the living room. He could see he was deep in thought. He lightly touched his shoulder so that he didn't startle him.

"What has you so deep in thought, my love?" Nicolas asked his mate.

"Just thinking about the fact we are finally alone." He smiled.

"It has been a while." He agreed.

"I don't regret it." He said.

"Neither do I." He assured him.

"I don't know what to do." Alex admitted.

"That is good. Neither do I." He chuckled.

"Cuddles?" He asked, looking at him with wide cat eyes.

"Of course." He chuckled, moving to cuddle his mate.

"I missed this." He hummed.

"So do I." He kissed his head.

They spent the rest of the morning and afternoon cuddling. At night they shared a romantic meal together. It was nice not having to censor themselves. Afterwards they retired to their room and made love. They didn't use any charms to prevent noise from leaving the room and both were as loud as they used to be.

The two spend the rest of the year remembering who they were before the kids. They never realized they had let the kids be the center of their whole lives and forgot they had been people before that. They returned to having dates and giving random gifts of love. They never regretted their children but they did regret neglecting each other and themselves so much.

They also discovered new things about themselves. One date night they took a cooking class. Nick was very good at cooking. There were some nights he cooked instead of their house-elves. Alex discovered a talent for playing the piano. His music was now heard a lot through their home. They both enjoyed sunbathing at the beach or in the garden.

Nicolas had been promoted to head Healer at the hospital he worked at. He even managed to train some of the best healers in France. Some even went on to be some of the best in the world. He helped develop a spell that helped stop magical tumors from growing.

Meanwhile, Alexandre created many community centers in the magical community and safe houses. He managed to rescue thousands of abused magical creatures and teach thousands of magicals. He never imagined being able to help his community like that before. Harry and Vasuki had inspired him.

The children excelled at school. Vasuki made friends and even found his mate in a naga named Kiki. He graduated and took an apprenticeship with the school healer. Celeste and Celine had also made friends at school. Celeste met her mate in a were dragon. Celine hadn't found her mate in school. Both graduated and became apprentices. Celeste had found her path in Charms and became the charms professor's apprentice. Celine became the apprentice to a spell crafter master at the French ministry. It was also there that she found a mate in a witch and fellow apprentice.

All three kids became protectors and friends to Severus and Sara's children. They helped spoil the five rotten. Vasuki especially does. They were nagas like him and he felt a special bond with them. Even after he met nagas at school the Snape-Ashborn children were the ones he was closest to besides his mate.

At one point his birth parents tried to contact him. They had learned that he was no longer the weak snake they had abandoned and now had a rich and powerful family. They wanted to leech off that. Luckily Nick and Alex put a stop to that. Vasuki would never acknowledge them. His parents were the two that saved him. They took care of him, they loved him, and they raised him.

Not once did they ever think to abandon him for being weak. Instead they helped him to grow strong and he would never throw them away for snakes that only wanted wealth and power. He wasn't stupid. Everyone rallied around him. He knew that he made the right choice.

Harry and Neville still hung out with the kids. They never failed to be the older sibling to them. They made time for all the kids whenever they needed the two. Even Harry's godfathers were close to the children. Nicolas's cousins had become a more constant part of their lives. The family had become closer and it made Nick and Alex happy.
