Railgun ga Kill Book 1: Night Raid

Seryu

Draven sat up in his bed covered with bandages from yesterday to find Eva sleeping with her head on the edge of his bed. She was muttering in her sleep. But as soon as Draven sat up, Eva was jolted awake.

"Huh? What? Oh. Hi Draven."

"Hi..."

"You're training with me today."

"I see." Draven said starting to get out of bed.

As soon as Draven was ready, Eva walked downstairs, waiting for Draven at the front door. Draven followed Eva to the training grounds where he put on a heavy suit of armor. Then, Eva led him to a river near the base.

"Your training is to swim in this armor for 30 minutes."

"Eh? Well it's better than shopping...." Draven said jumping into the water.

30 minutes later

Draven hoisted himself out from the water. He was dripping wet as he started to take the wet armor off.

"Ah, man. Swimming with heavy armor like that is hard."

"But you completed the training." Eva said with a smile. "You did good."

"Thanks. Also, just a question, why don't you help out around the base?"

"Uh... About that... I tried to help Orwen clean the floors but I tripped and made more mess for him... When I tried to cook with Asuka, I accidentally burned the meat and angered Asuka. I ran an errand for Ciara, but then I mistook salt for sugar which left Ciara rolling on the floor laughing. But when I did the laundry with Mikoto, I accidentally washed her with it."

"Somehow, I find this all very amusing...."

"E-eh?"

"Nothing." Draven said looking away.

Soon, Draven had gotten out of his armor and had started back towards base.

Later that day

Draven and Ciara had been sent out to patrol a marketplace. Observing the area on Kiyu, they flew back and forth searching for irregularities.

"Wait. I think I see something." Draven said pointing to a figure dashing into the alleyway.

"Can you deal with it alone? I saw another person in the shadows over there."

"Sure." Draven replied stepping off of Kiyu and onto a rooftop.

Then, Ciara took off in an opposite direction and Draven dashed after the figure he saw earlier.

When Draven had reached the alleyway he saw the figure, he yelled. "Hey! Stop!"

"Hm?" A girl about Draven's age had turned around to face him.

Beside her, she had a cute chibi-looking dog. She wore an Imperial Soldier's outfit.

"Oh... Uh.... I'm lost." Draven lied. "I saw you and hoped you could help me."

"I would be glad to help you!" The girl replied. "My name's Seryu! What's yours?"

"Oh. I'm Jake." Draven lied again.

"Hello there Jake! Where would you like to go?"

"Just leading me back to the marketplace would be fine. I know where to go from there."

"Alright then." Seryu said happily muttering under her breath. Something about justice or something?

Draven followed Seryu through the alley and back to the marketplace.
