AubreyI was out of breath by the time I had made it to the instrument store. My lungs burned with every breath I took. I wasted so much of my energy running that I had to use all of my strength to push open the store's door. The bell above the door rang as I made my way inside, causing Bobby, my boss, to look my way. He stood behind the register counter with his reading glasses on, and there was papers layed out on the counter around him.
"Geez, it looks as if you just ran a marathon." Bobby laughed.
"What place did you rank?" He asked as he removed his reading glasses from his face.
"Last." I said out of breath as I made my way to the back room that was behind the counter. I went in there to hang up my jacket and bag before walking back out while I fixed my shirt that read the stores name. I rested my arms on the counter, giving myself a moment of rest as I tried to regain my normal heart rate back. I turned my head towards Bobby and saw that he was yet again wearing his reading glasses and looking down at a paper in front of him."I'm sorry that I'm late Bobby, I just lost track of time." I said, making him look over at me. He removed his glasses from his eyes, pulling them down the bridge of his nose.
"Ah, what's two minutes? Don't worry about it! It happens." He said shrugging his shoulders. His response made me smile, I was so grateful to have him as a boss.Bobby was already in his early fifties but nowhere near the age in his personality. Bobby may have looked like an older man on the outside but in the inside he had the soul of a kid. He was always positive, witty and kind. He may look to be a serious guy but knowing Bobby, serious was a role he never played. There was never a dull moment working for him.
"Where did you come from anyway?" He asked while staring down at a paper he held.
"Oh, just that café a few streets down from here." I replied as I tapped my fingers on the counter top."I know of the one you are speaking about," He said with a smile as he stacked all the papers in front of him into a pile, "their coffee is excellent.".
"Maybe I'll have to bring you a cup once and a while." I said as I walked over to the stool that was right beside the register to sit down.
"Maybe you will." He said taking off his glasses and putting them in his shirt pocket, before turning away and going into the back room.I was the only one who worked in the store with Bobby. If he wasn't here I would be alone watching the store and when I wasn't working he would be working here on his own. The store wasn't always busy, there were mostly slow days. Though Bobby seemed to make enough over the years to keep the store open.
I rested my arm on the counter and placed my chin in my hand as I looked around the store. My eyes gazed over the acoustic and electric guitars hung on the wall to my right, then to the back of the room where they skimmed over the flutes and the clarinets, then the violins, trumpets, and then the drum set. Lastly my gaze fell on my favorite instrument that sat near the entrance of the store, the grand piano. Every time I looked at the piano I had an erge to play it, as if it was lurring me in to press it's keys. My fingers would twitch giving in to that pull.
I looked around the room once more before slowly getting up off the stool and creeping to the entrance. I looked out the store's windows, looking to see if anyone was making their way to the store. From what I could see no one was. A smile crept on my face as I turned around from the window and sat on the grand piano's bench. I looked through the glass of the entrance door one last time before I lifted the case off the piano's keys. I brushed my fingers over a few of the keys before finding the right ones I needed to play, before letting my fingers press the keys.
Shawn
I wasn't exactly sure how to get to Sanderson's Instruments but thanks to my phone I had a general idea as to where it was, and surprisingly it was only a few streets away from the café. I placed my phone into my back pocket when I saw the store on the other side of the street across from me. I smiled to myself, proud that I actually found the place.
As I was waiting for the flood of cars driving down the road to eventually come to a stop I felt a tap on my arm. I turned around to make eye contact with a girl who looked the age of thirteen. She had curly blond hair and freckles along her under eyes and nose. My eyes looked away from hers for a split second to see two girls behind her. I had assumed that they were her friends.
"Uh, excuse me?" The blonde girl said causing me to look back at her. She stepped closer towards me as she looked around.
"Are you... Shawn Mendes?" She asked, whispering my name as if it was some secret. I couldn't help but chuckle as I whispered a reply.
"Yes, I am." I whispered, causing her to smile wide. She giggled as she looked back at the two girls behind her.
I was a little surprised that they had noticed me since I was wearing a hood over my head, but then again it wasn't the best disguise ever either.
"Would you mind if we could each get a picture with you?" She asked as she pulled out her phone from her jacket pocket. I smiled and shook my head.
"Sure." I responded, before taking a picture with each of them. All three of them thanked me before running off in a fit of laughter. I shook my head, smiling as I watched them run. I looked to my left to see a few people staring at me, likely wondering why those girls wanted a picture with me. I turned around right away, not wanting them to figure it out, and crossed the street once it was clear.
As I made my way to the store I could hear a piano being played and as I got closer I could hear a voice singing as well. The melody was new to me, I hadn't heard it before. Once I neared the shop's windows I could see that one was slighlty open, that was why I could hear the music. I hid behind a small, planted evergreen tree that was against the stone wall of the instrument store, wanting to hear more of the piano and the voice.
"'Cause underneath the darkness, there's a light that's trying so hard to be seen. And I know this 'cause I've noticed, a little bit shining through the seams.'" Sang a beautiful voice. I knew that the voice belonged to a female and I was guessing that the song was original. The lyrics were beautiful, so I was hoping that it was Aubrey.
Curious to discover the singer I left my hiding space and went straight for the entrance to the shop, with Aubrey's folder tucked tightly underneath my arm.

Hey guys, the worst thing had happened to me last week. It was a writer's worst nightmare! So basically I had six chapters written for this story and they all vanished! I guess they deleted on their own, I was devastated! I have to write everything over again and that bugs me because I feel like the new chapters won't compare to the old ones I wrote! But I'm not going to let this stop me from writing this fanfiction.
Anyway I hope you liked chapter 2, please vote or comment to let me know what you think of this story so far! Thanks.
