The sound of their footsteps echoed off of the walls. Hand in hand, they ran through the confusing hallways and corridors of the meeting hall. Olivine's heart was pounding faster with every step. But what kept her going, what made her want to persevere, was Tourmaline. She was so brave, being able to lead them on this dangerous escape. She was so protective and would never let anything bad happen to her. And they both knew that if something went wrong, it would be considered all Tourmaline's fault. She was the one who organized this mission and had already appoligized in advance. But her appology meant nothing to Olivine. Because she knew that nothing would go wrong. She trusted Tourmaline to take care of her and get them through this. They were going to escape Homeworld.
She kept her eyes focused on the path in front of them. They were almost near the exit, and then they could use the warp pads to teleport themselves out of there. Tourmaline stopped just before the hallway turned into another corner going left. She looked back at Olivine and gave her a look of encouragment. She squeezed her hand reasuringly. Her one sympathetic eye seemed to be saying, 'We can do this...' Olivine smiled and nodded at her. Her black and green gem sparkled, as she turned around and led them around the corner.
Tourmaline's gem was more jagged and chipped, unlike Olivine's smooth, light green gem. She had no idea why she was ashamed of her gem. It was beautiful, the way the colors danced around the sharp parts and flowed gently on the even parts. She had tried encouraging her to put her hair back out of her face, so that everybody could see how beautiful she was. But Tourmaline continued to have that one lock of hair, covering her gem.
Suddenly Tourmaline skidded to a halt in front of her, yanking Olivine out of her thoughts. She looked around, wondering what the problem was. Then she heard footsteps rushing towards them. Tourmaline whipped around and shoved Olivine in the other direction, then summoned her weapon. She went along, and began pounding back down the hallway.
"What's wrong?" her voice came in a whisper.
"Yellow Diamond!" Tourmaline gasped.
Olivine widened her eyes, "But how could she have known? We had kept everything secret-"
"Just run!" Tourmaline cut her off.
Olivine quieted herself. She had never seen Tourmaline look this scared before. Usually she was the brave one. And it upset her greatly to see her like this. They continued running back the way thay had come. She glanced back quickly, and rounding the corner was Yellow Diamond. She pounded after them and grabbed a stabelizer from her belt. Putting on a burst of speed, she grabbed Tourmaline's hand once more and sprinted down the corridor.
The familiar buzz of the stabelizer sounded just before Olivine felt pain in her back and went down. She fell with a groan and looked up to see Tourmaline racing back towrads her.
"No! Get out of here!" she yelled.
As expected Tourmaline ignored her and ran up to Yellow Diamond, with her dagger ready. She bagan slashing at the bigger, more powerful gem. But Yellow Diamond swiftly ducked and dodged all of her attempts. She grabbed Tourmaline's arm when she tried swinging again, and lifted her above the ground. Olivine struggled to get up, but the shock had made her extremely weak. The next thing she knew, Yellow Diamond stuck the stabelizer right in Tourmaline's side and pushed it in deeply, slashing it across her left side. The smaller gem yelled in pain and dropped her weapon.
"NO!" Olivine screamed.
She dropped Toumaline onto the floor where she lay in great pain, next to her dagger. Olivine rushed over to her and cradeled her head in her hands. There were tears in her one eye, as she struggled to control her cries of pain. Olivine fekt herself tearing up, just at seeing her like that. She summoned her weapon, and pulled a small set of bow and arrows out of her gem. She aimed one at Yellow Diamond, but before she could launch it, the powerful gem punched her in the middle of her eyes. And then the world went black.
