Chapter 9

Before my eyes even opened the soreness of the bottom of my lip stung and alerted me. I shot up in my bed and started panting. I wasn't even running in my dream and yet I felt like I had ran cross-country. There was no point in hiding it anymore. I had to tell the others of these dreams. And the only person who can decipher what's happening and why I am getting injured is Chale. Well, him and his super computer.

I dragged my body out of bed and felt weaker then before. I wobbled trying to stand up on my own and had to grab the wall for support. "Great, the girl did this to me too." It must have be in the bite.

Who know something so pleasurable could be so bad for you?

The air smelled of meat, steak to be specfic, and it settled in my stomach making it churn in hunger. When was the last time I had an actual meal? I was so used to not eating so often that I almost forget to feed myself. And that was never, ever a good thing.

"Wow you have been sleeping for the longest time." Paul said upon greeting me. He nodded in my general direction. "Did you have a nice dream at least?"

"Yeah it was great." I muttered dryly. "One of the best dreams I had in months."

Chale looked up from the computer screen. "And you look absolutely horrible. Did you get into a..." He trailed off and shifted his gaze towards Paul who was paying attention to something on his phone. "You know." Chale finished.

"Something like that." I responded. "Hey Paul I got a call from one of your booty calls last night. She said she really wanted you to meet her at her apartment. She sounded really into you." I've used this lie on her on more than one occasion and somehow it always ends up become a reality. Resulting in a very happy, and distracted Paul. Just the kind we like around here.

  His face brightened. "Really?"

"Truly." I said with a nod. "You should got to her. Wouldn't want to keep a girl waiting." Paul hopped up and ran out the apartment like it was on fire. He barely shut the door behind him.

"So what's up?" Chale asked. He had his glasses on and he looked even more like a professor than usual. "Are you finally going to tell me what the hell is going on with you?"

"Depends on how well you treat me." I retorted with an added grin.

He rolled his eyes. "Just go on with it."

Still feeling weak, I dragged my body to the floor closer to Chale. "I've been having these dreams with this girl." This fucking gorgeous female to be specific. "And at the end of every dream she hurts me physically in some way."

  Chale blinked. "So?"

"So it ends up appearing in reality too."

Charlie's eyes shut wide open. "Seriously? I didn't even know they created..." He trailed off after noticing the confused look I was giving him. "A couple years back I went to this science expo and there was this one group of scientist that created a serum that makes regular humans enter people's dreams and control them. So much that it crosses over from dream land into reality. It explains your various injuries on your body." Chale frowned. "But they were missing a vital piece and couldn't proceed."

  "And that piece was?"

"They knew how to control the mind. And enter dream land. But they didn't know how to stay there and control the dreams."
