There's a Stark, Lifeless Place, littered with Unidentifiable Remains. Shadows move in the corner of his eye, disappearing when he looks for them. No Vegetation, No Soil, Just Hard Rock, It fills him with Despair and Dread. Out of this Depressing place, One Dark Humanoid Figure stands in front of a Pool of Light coming out of the ground.
The Dark Figure speaks. "Finally...... So this is it?" The figure's voice is that of a Monster's."At Last Something.... Interesting. To the Human World." Figure tosses something into the light a it says this. "HERE I COME!" As it screams this, a Bright pair of Red Eyes opens and Glows.
Hikaru suddenly sits up in his bed with a start, drenched in a cold sweat and panting, over a nightmare he had just had. It was the later half of the night, early in the morning, what ever you prefer to call it. Everything was dark ad quiet except, his for quick ragged breaths. Being only 7 years of age, a completely dark house, especially after a dream like that, was quite terrifying. He sat for about 3 full minutes in the darkness, before deciding to get out of bed. He slowly slid off the bed, onto his wooden floor, which resulted in a solid thud and a creaking noise for a solid 6 seconds. Hikaru froze in place, and stood there waiting, for what he didn't know, until there was another, lighter sound from the opposite side of his bed. He covered his mouth to hold in a gasp. He slowly peered over the bed to see...
"Meeew!" Hikaru let out a sigh of relief. It was just their new cat, Aya, whom they had gotten just the other day and were still getting used to. She was only 3 or 4 weeks old and didn't know much about their house yet, but had really grown to sleeping in Hikaru's room. She had 2 different colored eyes, one Green, one Blue, and Calico Fur. He had forgot she had fallen asleep on his lap. He sighed realizing how stupid he was for being afraid of the dark..... But the dream still had him shaken up. He wasn't going to get any sleep anyway.
"Here Aya," He bent down to pick up Aya whispering quietly. When he got close to her, she hissed and tried to scratch him, but having her claws retracted, all that happens is her softly touching his hand with her paws. Hikaru sighs and picks her up anyway, against all her resistance until she eventually just sits meowing her discontent quietly. He walks through the entire house until he finds the door to his dad's room. He cracks it slightly, until he could just see the outline of his father in his bed. He quietly creeps over to his dad, and stands in front of him. He places Aya on the bed and quietly calls out to his dad.
"Dad... Dad, wake up," His dad simply rolls over. Hikaru frowns, frustrated at this. He places his hand on his dad's side and shakes him. "Dad, wake up!"
"Huh?" Taro Kagami throws on his glasses quickly. "Ugh... Wh-What? Who's there?"
"Calm Down Dad, It's me," Hikaru rubs his eyes as his dad flicks on a lamp. His dad runs a hand through his hair.
"Why are you waking me up at-," He turns towards his clock. "-4 in the morning?"
"I had a n...." Hikaru trails off. "A, Uh- erm..."
"A, erm, What? Wait.... OOOOOH!" A smile spreads across his face."Our Big Strong Hikaru had a nightmare!" He chuckles. "You haven't had a nightmare in years. Come on, tell me about it."
"Well I was in a dark place- or I wasn't there, i just saw it like I was. There was a hole in the ground with light pouring out of it.... and a man- no a monster...."
"A monster?" His dad's face had grown a little concerned. "Wh-What did the monster look like?"
"Uuuum..." He searched through his memory for any details of it. "Tall, Taller than you even. White skin, but it was covered in what looked like black clothes, a really creepy voice, red eyes, and a ciy- a sy- sic-" He couldn't find the right word.
"A scythe?!" He gripped his son's shoulders.
"Yeah, that's it! How'd you know?"
"Hikaru..." Taro pulls his son close to him. "There are monsters in this world- R-Real Monsters.... Monsters I've known too well.... Monsters I DON'T want ANYWHERE near you."
"What do you mean... Real?" Hikaru was growing visibly frightened. Monsters? They couldn't be real!
His dad sighs. "Never mind, its... It was probably just a bad dream. It's nothing.... Anyway are you still scared, bud?" His dad asks, shaking his head.
"Um... Yeah. But just a little." He was actually more scared now after his dad's strange behavior.
"Well, come here. If you're that scared, you can sleep in here with me and Aya," He says while scratching behind Aya's ears, making her purr happily. He lifts the covers and Hikaru climbs in.
"Okay.... Thanks *Yawn* Dad...." Hikaru closes his eyes and is instantly out like a light.
"Don't mention it, bud,"He said, yawning just like his son, kissing the back of Hikaru's head, turning off the light, and going to sleep.
