Remember Us (Stevie and Ally)

Chapter 2 : I Can Feel Your Jealousy

One week later. Ally was back at her apartment. Someone knocked at the door. Ally took her crutches and went to the door. It was Stevie. She hadn't seen her since she rushed out of her hospital room.

Stevie - "Hey.. I was just checking that you were okay"

Ally - "I am, come in, I need to sit, those crutches hurt my arms"

Stevie - "Okay" she said as she passed the door.

The atmosphere was heavy, none of them could say a word. They were just sitting in Ally's kitchen, staring at each other, waiting for the other one to make a move. Ally couldn't bear it anymore.

Ally - "Why did you run away Stevie ? Did I do something bad ? What happened ?"

Stevie - "Oh ! Don't worry, it's just that I was feeling nauseous. I ran to the bathroom cause I felt like I was going to puke". She was pretty convincing.

Ally - "Oh my god, are you feeling better ? I wanted to text you about this but my phone got crashed in the accident"

Stevie - "It's okay"

As they were talking, someone else knocked on the door. Ally was surprised, she didn't invited anyone. She took her crutches and stood up.

Stevie - "Wait, I'm going to help you"

Ally - "Thank you".

When they arrived to the front door, Stevie let go of Ally and opened the door. A tall guy was standing there. Stevie had never seen him at university.

The guy - "Hi, it's been a while, huh ?"

Ally - "Steven ? What are you doing here ? Weren't you in Europe or something ?". Ally was apparently very pleased to see him whereas Stevie froze. 'Steven' ? As in her ex-boyfriend 'Steven' ?

Steven - "I came back a few days ago to see my parents and I learnt you had a pretty bad accident. I wanted to see how you were doing. I'm considering coming back to California next semester, I miss the country"

Ally - "That's awesome ! Well I'm doing just fine. I'm sorry, this is Stevie, she's a friend from school"

Stevie waved at him even if she didn't want to. She just wanted him to go away.

Steven - "Hi. I'm Steven. Her ex-boyfriend"

No doubt left now, it was him. Stevie felt sick to her stomach. Not just because he had came back but because Ally enjoyed being around him and that she didn't remember anything about them.

Steven - "I'm sorry I can't stay, we will have to catch up later, beautiful. Don't get yourself in trouble okay ? I'll see you soon". He kissed her cheek, Ally closed her eyes, she was just enjoying the moment, she had missed him. In her memory, he was the last one she had dated and they just broke up a few months ago because they couldn't bear long distance relationship. Reality was completely different. He wasn't really the last one.

Stevie closed the door, she felt angry but she couldn't be mad at Ally, it wasn't her fault. She couldn't remember. She was angry at him cause he just chose the perfect time to come visit her. She was mad at herself for not having the courage to tell her everything. What if her feelings for her were gone with her memory ? What if she freaked out ? She couldn't take that risk. She couldn't lose her.

They both returned to the kitchen, Ally had a smile on her face which made Stevie uncomfortable.

Ally - "He's cute, huh ? He hasn't changed much since the last time I saw him. Maybe a little taller"

Stevie - "Yeah nothing spectacular" she said, broody.

Ally - "Come on, you have to admit he's kinda handsome. AND he's coming back to the U.S. Maybe it's our chance to make it right this time"

Stevie's heart skipped a beat. She couldn't believe what she had just said, it was too much, like she received a knife in her stomach.

Stevie - "Do you still have feelings for him ?"

She was feeling anxious, unprepared for Ally's response.

Ally - "Um... I don't know. I haven't seen him in a while and we weren't the closest persons since we broke up"

Stevie - "Then maybe you shouldn't try, if it didn't work the first time it won't surely work the second"

Stevie had said that way too aggressively, it surprised Ally. She stood up and sat next to Stevie.

Ally - "What's up with you ?" She said, gently

Stevie - "Nothing, I just... Nothing, forget it"

Ally - "No, tell me"

Stevie - "I can't"

Ally - "Why not ?"

Stevie - "I'm not ready yet and... Neither are you"

Before Ally could answer anything, Stevie stood up.

Stevie - "I have to do something, I'll see you later, go get some rest okay ?"

She kissed her forehead, Ally shivered.

Stevie "Bye"

Ally stayed there for a moment, not understanding anything that had just happened. She felt like Stevie was... jealous. But why jealous ? That didn't make any sense to her. She started overthinking, it hurt her head. Ally stood up and laid down in the couch. She closed her eyes and after a while, she fell asleep.

Then, weird dreams started.
