Remember Us (Stevie and Ally)

Chapter 1 : Where's my memory ?

The doctor - "Good morning" he said as he closed the door behind him. "I'm Doctor Nelson, I see that you are awake, do you know your name ?"

"How dumb does he think I am ?" she thought.

Ally - "Yes, Ally Hills. What happened to me ?"

Dr Nelson - "You don't remember anything about a car, do you ?"

Ally - "No....?"

Stevie - "You were... hit. By a car. I was there"

Stevie looked pale, she was struggling to say the words.

Ally - "How ?"

Dr Nelson - "First of all, we need to know how much your memory has been damaged and if anything else than your leg was injured". He moved forward to examine her.

Ally - "My leg ?"

Dr Nelson - "Can't you feel your leg ?"

Ally - "No, why can't I feel my leg ? What happened ???!"

Ally took the hospital blanket and discovered her wrapped leg. The doctor took a pen and pressed it on her left foot. Ally complained and moved her leg away from the cold pen but she was happy to see she still could feel and move. He then tried with her other foot but she didn't feel anything. She looked scared.

Dr Nelson - "Don't worry it's probably due to the surgery and medication. It is not uncommon but we will keep you here for a couple more days, just in case. Then you will have to come again to take off your stitches. You will have to keep your plaster cast for at least two months because you broke your shinbone. You're lucky that it's the only thing that's been broken. Stay very calm and you will be able to leave soon. Today is Thursday, November 17th 2015. How old are you ?"

Ally - "Twenty"

Dr Nelson - "Do you remember going to University in the past few months ?"

Ally - "No..."

Dr Nelson - "What is the last thing you remember doing ?"

Ally - "Coming back from my summer vacations, I was abroad. That was in.... August"

She looked very concerned and a bit panicked.

Dr Nelson - "Don't worry, it was predictable. It's probably temporary, don't push yourself to much cause it will only cause stress which is not good for you. Your memory will come back in pieces. Don't put too much pressure on you remember ?"

She nodded. Stevie was still sitting, paying close attention to anything he was saying. The doctor then turned and went to the door. "I will be back later. Goodbye"

Ally turned to Stevie, she was looking for answers.

Ally - "I didn't even noticed that plaster cast. How was I hit ?"

Stevie - "Drunk driver. He wasn't even driving straight but you didn't see him on time. I tried to pull your arm but it was too late, it..."

Ally - "Hey... Don't be so upset, I'm okay now, look" she told her, smiling.

Stevie - "Yeah... But still. It must be so weird for you because I know you, but you have no idea who I am""

Ally - "You seem like a pretty good person, from what you told, you stayed with me, coming to visit me even though you knew there was a possibility that I wouldn't remember you when I wake up. Thank you"

Stevie - "You're welcome. By the way, your mom is on her way, the hospital called her to tell her you were conscious"

Ally - "Oh, great. Thanks"

Stevie - "I guess I should just... go then"

Ally - "No wait ! Stay, I enjoy your company. Unless you have something else to do..."

Stevie blushed. "No I don't" she smiled.

Ally - "How lucky am I to wake up to a beautiful girl, huh ?"

Stevie - "True true true" she joked

Ally - "Heeey ! Don't steal my sentences woman"

Stevie - "Don't woman me, young Lady !"

They both laughed. For a minute, Stevie felt like everything went back to normal, they had been through so much, and Ally was, to her, so much more than just a friend but she couldn't say it yet.

Ally - "Can I ask you something ?"

Ally was feeling weird things every time she was looking at Stevie. She couldn't explain why, it was just there, that's why she asked her to stay, she wanted her to stay.

Stevie - "Of course"

Ally - "Can I have a hug ? I'm .... cold" she knew it wasn't convincing but she just wanted to test something.

Stevie stood up and opened her arms to her

Stevie - "Here, you deserved it" she said as she wrapped her arms around Ally. 

They both shivered. Stevie had missed her arms, her smell, everything. Ally was just confused but pleased at the same time. She was enjoying it way too much.

Ally - "Thank you"

Stevie stepped back and looked at her. It was so painful for her not to do anything when she could not stop looking at her lips. It was too much. Stevie instantly turned back, took her bag and ran to the door leaving Ally confused. How are you supposed to tell someone you love them when they don't even remember you ? Stevie got out of the hospital with tears in her eyes. What if she never remembered ? What if she dated another person before any memory of them came back ? So much things were running into Stevie's head. She sat on a bench and put her head on her arms. Those questions were killing her.
