A week went by and I never left my house. I just didn’t feel like going anywhere.

“Hanna?” I heard my dad’s soft voice from behind my door.  I heard the door open and him walk in. “Hanna you are getting out of bed today if you like it or not! You need some fresh air! Get ready and go. You have 5 minutes or I’m picking you up and locking you out side looking like that.” He left my room and I stayed in bed. What should I do? Slowly I went to my bathroom and looked in the mirror my face was drained of all color and there were dark circles under my eyes. I splashed my face with cold water and then walked to my closet. I decided just to go to the beach and layout.

As I walked out the front door I could here my dad clapping for me. I grabbed my skateboard and hopped on. The 5-minute ride to the beach was refreshing.  I laid out my towel then took off my shorts and t-shirt. It was still pretty early so the majority of people there were surfers.

As soon as I lay down and my face felt the warm sand my eyes began to droop and I feel asleep.

“Ryan do you see that girl! She is so hot. Look at her ass.” Was the sentence that woke me up from my deep sleep. I sat up and opened my eyes.

Standing about 10 feet from me was a group of about 4 guys and one girl. All the guys were staring at me but the girl was grabbing on to what looked like her boyfriends hand and was tugging him away.

“I would appreciate it if you guys would stop staring at me like im some kind of animal.” I snapped. One of the boys stepped forward and said “Oh sorry we were just checking out your ass.” And with that the group turned and began to walk away. The girl turned around briefly to stair me down. I just laughed, why do girls do that when they don’t even know you? Beats me!

I plugged my headphones in and stayed sitting up watching the surfers. I miss watching Cody surf. I stood up and began to stretch a little. My body was stiff from sleeping on the sand. “Not only does she have a nice ass but she’s got a great rack too!” I heard the boy from earlier yell. I looked over at the group he was sitting in and noticed a couple new people. Cody’s jaw was wide open as he looked at me, He looked mad. His face was turning a nice shade of red. Quicker then before I put on my clothes and began to make my way to the boards walk. Unfortunately to get there I had to walk closer to the group. I tried to direct my eyes away from them but then suddenly I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist.  “Get your hands off of me if you ever want to be able to be a father.” I whispered just loud enough for him to hear and loosen his grip but he still left one arm around my waist.  “Dude let her go she looks like a bitch any way.” I knew that voice. “Ya listen to Cody.” I said wiggling out of his grip. “Cody why would you say that?” his friend asked. He said nothing so I decided t reply for him. “Because he thinks he knows me.” I began to walk away. Until I heard the girl talk. “Cody do you even know that girl? Hopefully not she is pretty ugly and your right she does seem like a bitch.” I turned around and walked up to the girl. We were inches apart when I stuck my hand out for her to shack. “Oh I guess I didn’t introduce myself. Hi I’m Hanna Baker and to answer your question, no Cody doesn’t know me even if he thinks he does.” I walked away not letting anything get in my way.

As soon as I got home I walked up to my dads office and knocked. “Come in Hanna. How was your outing?”  “Just fabulous daddy. Oh ya I saw Cody, His friend said I was an ugly bitch and now I’m home.”  He looked at me with regret. “Im sorry Hanna I just though if you got out it would b good for you. “Oh dad it was good for me! Im out of my depression if that’s what you want to call it. Now I have a question. Remember when my agency wanted me to move out to New York? Can I go?”

This seemed like the perfect plan. This is my way of getting as far away from Cody as  I can whilst still living in the USA.

“Um I guess if that’s what you want to do.” My dad said looking sad.

“Dad I want you to move out there with me!” I replied.

“I would love to go with you Hanna! When do you want to leave for New York?” he asked.

“As soon as possible!” I said.

“OK well I will call my real estate agent right now and have him come over. If we are moving I really want to get the house up for sale soon so I can meet you in New York sooner. Ill get you a ticket for tomorrow.”   I ran up and hugged my dad. He is so generous and understanding.

I went to my room and pulled out all of my suitcases. I will pack everything I can in these then have my dad ship the rest of my things.

I spent the next couple of hours stuffing clothes, shoes and toiletries into my three huge suitcases. Then I lay down in bed and went to sleep. Today was a long day.

When I woke up I looked out the window and there parked in the drive way was a huge moving van. They were already in the process of putting furniture in the truck.  I looked across the street and there standing in their drive way was Cody and Alli. Cody looked like he was trying to stop Alli from crying but it wasn’t working.  I walked out to the front door and to the sidewalk. Alli looked up at me and the tears began to fall again. She detached herself from Cody and walked over to me. Without a word she wrapped her arms around me. I felt the tears begin to fall down my face.

“Do you have to leave?” She asked between sobs.  I nodded “Alli its what’s best for me. Yesterdays events made it clear to me that I have no reason to stay here. I will miss you guys but I need to leave for my own sanity.”   “what happened yesterday?” she asked.

“That Is something I really don’t want to talk about but im sure Cody will tell you. Or one of his new friends will.”

We both looked to were Cody was still standing.

“I have to finish packing. My flight leaves today.” I told her unwrapping my arms.

“Where are you moving to? Or is it top secret?” She asked with a small chuckle.

“No its not, Im going to New York. When we figure everything out there ill send you my address. I would love to have you come out to visit.”

“That would be wonderful. Good by Hanna. I love you and I will miss you so much. Stay in touch.” And with that she walked back across the street and back into Cody’s arms. They slowly sauntered back into their house Cody, without saying a word to me.
