Chapter 22

A few days went by and I hadn’t heard anything about Katie.

[Monday]

Today I decided to go back to school, I had missed a couple days because all I could think about was Katie and her well being.  When I got to school I did the same thing I always do, went to a my classes then walked to the quad for lunch.  As I walked through the quad I felt thousands of eyes on me.  Did they all know what happened?  Do they know that it wasn’t me who hit Katie?  I looked over to where my old friends usually sit at lunch but there was no one there.  As soon as I looked down I felt a tap on my shoulder, I turned to find all three of them standing there looking at me with ‘apology’ written all over there faces.  Before they had the chance to say anything I just stood up and hugged them all at the same time.  “we are so sorry, Katie sent us a letter telling us what the real story was.  She also told us how you saved her life!”  Mackenzie said.  “I understand, its ok.”  Is all I said before engulfing them in another bear hug.  I truthfully missed my friends, i’m glad they know the truth now.  “this is for you.” Jordan said handing me a closed envelope “it was sent with our letter but it was addressed to you.”  I grabbed the letter and put it in my bag, I don’t want to read it in public. 

The girls and I talked for the rest of lunch and caught up.  Apparently now Bailey and Harry and Mackenzie and Nial are all officially dating.  Jordan and Jakes relationship is still going strong. They skype and FaceTime every day and there texting is nonstop. I don’t understand how it’s nonstop when there is a big time difference!?!?!?  Lunch ended and we all went to our classes.  When I got home I went straight into my room and closed the door, I grabbed the letter and sat on my bed.  I looked at it for a second then tore it open.  

[The letter] 

Dear Hanna,

I owe you everything, with out you there was a large chance that I would be dead.  My father was put in jail and I was put up for adoption because of my lack of any other family members.  Surprisingly I have already been adopted! I know it almost never happens that fast but it did for me!  You are the kindest, sweetest,  most beautiful girl I have ever met and I am sorry for giving you such a hard time.  I was very envious of your life and your beauty!  Cody is so lucky to have you in his life!  My adoptive family is from Florida so I will be moving out there soon.  I guess this is good by and thank you. You are my guardian angel!  Thank you for all you have done for me.

[End of Letter]

I placed the letter down on the bed and felt tears welling up in my eyes.  I wasn’t sad I was proud.  I was proud of what I had done and what I have accomplished.  I heard my bedroom door slowly opened and Cody walked in.  He made his way to my bed and sat down next to me.  He rapped one arm around my waist and picked up the letter.  We sat in comfortable silence while he read the letter.   “she’s right.” is all he said after he was done reading.  “right about what?” I ask.  “ I am so lucky to have you.” he said while rapping bot arms around me and pulling me down into a laying position on the bed.  We just laid there for a couple minutes before I hear multiple pairs of feet walking up the stairs toward my room.  Before I have time to look up and see who it is  hear yelling and indian noises then I feel 5 bodies jump on top of Cody and I.   “I know those noises” I whisper to myself.  Some how I wiggle out from underneath the dog pile and look down at the six boys.    “Oh My God Its One Direction” I scream acting like one of there many crazed fans.  One by one the boys stood up and hugged me.  I missed them so much it was wonderful to see them.
