Stories on Wattpad - Drawing a Blank (and some poems)
Been on Wattpad for - On this account... a few months... on my other account (Sheri_Dance) about half a year.
How did you come up with your username?
I don't know. I was inspired by ice-cream cones, and how they have a twist on the top, so hence vanilla_twist.
What inspired you to start writing?
My Dad. He's a professional author, and I wanted to follow in his footsteps. Also, I joined my schools Writing Club, where we submitted articles to the local newspaper. I loved writing them, and I've had quite a few published!
How did you discover Wattpad?
I discovered it through two of my besties, who both have accounts. We all love to write, and I thought the idea of writing and posting stories online (and having other people read them!) was really cool
What is your favourite chapter or story that you have written?
That's tough... probably Drawing a Blank.. it's so fun to write from Taylor's perspective!
Do you think you have improved on your writing in the time you have been on Wattpad?
For sure! I love receiving feedback, and by having my stories bounce on and off of the Whats Hot List, I am beginning to understand what kinds of stories people really enjoy, and what they don't!
What is your favourite genre in stories?
I enjoy reading humor.
Who was your favourite childhood Author?
My favourite childhood authour... whoever wrote the 'Nancy Drew' series. I still have around 100 of them sitting in my room.
What do you enjoy most about writing stories?
I love the whole writing process, but probably when I've written it, and it's published, and a few months later I'll read it again, and be like.. I wrote this?! It's fun to do that! ;D
Who are your favourite characters in your stories?
Hmm.. I liked creating Taylor, because she's kind of an extension of me. She loves pink (which I don't), and isn't too friendly with her Mom (which I am) but her attitude is a lot like mine.
How did you choose the names for your characters?
I base them on a lot of things. Taylor was based on Taylor Swift. On my other account (Sheri_Dancez) I either make up random names, or choose something that fits the character (eg. In Blondie, I named the girl Barbie because Barbies are perceived to be perfect, but that it what Barbie strives to be throughtout the story).
Do you base your stories on real life?
Totally! In Drawing a Blank, some of the teachers share the names of my teachers in real life, and Mr. O's anger mangement is based on one of my teachers, who is infamous in the school for being a little agressive.
Do you want your work to be published?
Are you kidding me?! YES! I've already had 4 or 5 articles published in the newspaper, but having a Novel or Ebook out there for the public to buy would be super cool!
What are your favourite stories on Wattpad at the moment?
That's a tough one! I like 'I met the man of my dreams in my snowman pajamas', because it's so funny, and has a lot of voice in it.
Do you get writers block? If so, how do you overcome it?
That's the thing about me.. I don't have an 'upload schedule' or anything like that. I don't upload frequently either. I kinda upload whenever I feel like writing that particular story. I have some half-chapters saved right now.. and I just kind of add to them whenever. Strange, right?!
What do you prefer more? Reading or writing?
I consider myself more of a writer. But I like to read more. It's more relaxing.
How do you come up with your ideas?
They just kinda come to me. With Drawing a Blank, I was in the car, driving back home from my Grandmothers house, and I totally forgot what I was thinking about! Then I was like "That would be a really cool idea for a story!" and I came home and wrote it. But I carry around a little notebook with me (or, I try to) so that I don't forget my ideas :)
Who is your favourite Wattpad writer at the moment?
I can only pick one? Fine.. probably xxMagicEyesxx- I love her story, SNAP!
Has any of your family or friends read any of your stories?
Ocassionly. I don't make a point of always showing them, but sometimes I'm really happy about what I've written, and I want to show off (not in a rude way, in a proud day).
Are you thinking of any new stories at the moment?
Ish. Kinda. Maybe.
What is the most random fact about you?
I'm a competitive dancer? Is that random enough? Ok. Here's something totally random. My cat's name is KitKat. :)
