Username: motorcycleLIV797
Name: Livvi Salinger
Country: America- California
Stories on Wattpad: Incursion (Watty Awards); Song of the Waves; In Their Minds (which is on hold); Eternal Assassination (which I've kind of abandoned.)
Been on Wattpad for: You mean how long I've been here? Since March.
How did you come up with your user name?
I don't really know, I have this obsession with motorcycles. See, my friend and I used to think we were Sexy Woodcutters, but then I was the Sexy Motorcycle. So I just felt like putting motorcycle in there... and Liv is my nickname.
What inspired you to start writing?
Well, I've been writing for as long as I can remember, but I really started to get into it after my mom came back from rehab from being an alcoholic. It was a rough time for me, and I chose writing as a way to cope instead of drinking like she did.
How did you discover Wattpad?
Let's see... first I was looking at the FAQ page for the Mortal Instrument series, then I saw this link to inkpop.com, then my friend told me there was a better writing sight and it was Wattpad. So here I am :)
What is your favourite chapter or story that you have written?
I really like the first chapter of Incursion, and that story all together. I also like what I have of SOTW. And I like all my depressing poems.
Do you think you have improved on your writing in the time you have been on Wattpad?
Not really. I mean, there's not a lot of stories that I like on this site, so I haven't learned a lot. Most of my writing is the same as it was before I signed up.
What is your favourite genre in stories?
Probably my very favourite is science fiction. I love reading and writing about other worlds. I also love historical fiction, non-teen fiction, and horror. Romance and paranormal, but only if they aren't cliche.
Who was your favourite childhood author?
I don't really remember the books I read when I was younger, so I guess I'll just say my favorite authors right now. Jane Austen, Stephan King, Cassandra Clare, and Neal Shusterman.
What do you enjoy most about writing stories?
I love losing myself while I'm writing a story. Whenever I write, I fall into the main character and forget about my life. It's my only escape, and that could be a bad thing, but I'm addicted to it. My characters speak to me, and it's like listening to a story as much as writing it down. I love it when I can't get the words out fast enough.
Who are your favourite characters in your stories?
I love Dylan from Incursion. He has a very complex, yet simple character. He's almost childlike in a way, yet so dark and disturbing. I love writing about him. I also really like Ennadine from SOTW, who I haven't introduced on Wattpad yet. The character that I'm most proud of is Izzy from In Their Minds, because of all her flaws. I love flaws.
How did you choose the names for your characters?
I'm sorry to say that sometimes I look them up on the internet. But actually, I don't a lot of the time. I came up with Ennadine with my therapist, Izalyn by just playing around, and Mony from my favorite song "Mony Mony." Fiona is a beautiful girl I know. Dylan and John were just simple names that I like. Ten has a cool backstory, I was just thinking about how it would be cool to have a name like Listen, where you pronounced the T. Then I was thinking of Lester, then it came to Lesten. And I knew this guy called Tennessee once, and his nickname was Ten. So I thought of Lesten, with a nickname of Ten.
Do you base your stories on real life?
No, not the entire story. I include bits of it, like Mony's missing tooth, Izzy's selfishness, Fiona's death, the myth of the sirens from SOTW. But not enough to have them be like my life story.
Do you want your work to be published?
Yes, but not for the money. I just want people to read my stories, because I write them so that the world will know of these character's stories. When I get an idea, it's because the characters in my mind need to have that story known.
What are your favourite stories on Wattpad at the moment?
I really like MaddyRawr10's stories, because they're really well-written and I kind of like boyxboy stories. I also like My Lady Gisbourne by Charlotte1194, Roots by SweetlySouthern, Sonant by ASparrow, and The Cellar by princessharley. But I don't like a lot of the stories on here, because they aren't written well and have cliche plots.
Do you get writer's block? If so, how do you overcome it?
Writer's block is sort of always with me. It's annoying. Usually what helps me is going out in the world for a while, reading classics, listening to music, anything but trying to write. And walking really helps, because it gets my energy up. And also photography, because I want to write about the pictures I take.
What do you prefer more? Reading or writing?
Writing, definitely, because I just love creating a whole new world where I call the shots. I love reading also, but I have high standards.
How do you come up with your ideas?
Some people have an interesting story about how they come up with ideas. A dream, a trip to somewhere amazing. But I don't. They just... come to me. I'll get word up and start writing random words, and if I'm lucky, it'll turn into a story before my eyes. Sometimes I get visions of stories, but it's rare. That happened with SOTW, though. Call me crazy, but I seriously do get visions.
Who is your favourite Wattpad writer at the moment?
I don't really have one, since I don't read a lot of Wattpad stories that I like (only bad ones I critique). I guess MaddyRawr10, but she's not really my favorite.
Has any of your family or friends read any of your stories?
Three friends. My friend Sam (loupgaroux13), my friend Khephra (SidyraDiamondePotter), and my therapist. I don't allow my parents to read my writing, and I don't really know why.
Are you thinking of any new stories at the moment?
Yeah, I was thinking up the whole plot for a new story the other day. It would be called "The Wonderful Nicknacks of Alice King." I'm not sure if I'll post it, but I've written some of the first chapter. It's about a girl who's depressed, and finds help in four friends. I was also thinking of a horror story about a possessed grave.
What is the most random fact about you?
I love people who write about talking cheeseburgers.
