*One hundred years ago*
"Come on! you're so slow!" Ky giggled as she sped off in front of Aang whilst they were playing air scooter, "or it's because you're cheating!" Aang fought back, "how can I cheat when we both have the same ability?!" Ky said as she started to slow down.
"Ahhh!" Ky screamed as Aang pushed her off her air ball and zoomed across the finish line, "hey! you cheated!" Ky yelled as she pointed at Aang, "no, I just happened to bump into you." Aang said with a smirk.
Ky stood up and dusted off her clothes, she was about to open her mouth to say 'well played' when Gyatso appeared with a few other monks and spoke instead, "Aang, come with us, we need to speak with you", Aang looked at Ky with confusion and slight worry, Ky just shrugged and asked "do you want me to wait out here for you?", "yeah" Aang replied and then he followed after the 5 monks.Ky watched as Aang walked away.
"Ky, the sisters at the western temple might get worried soon, when are you thinking of going home?" monk Bistunai asked, startling Ky a little. Ky turned around "oh.. soon, I guess. I will just ride Sora home" she said with a smile, monk Bistunai smiled with a nod, happy with her answer, "okay young one, make it home safe."
"How do you know it's me?" Aang asked as he sat in front of the monks that had just informed him that he was the avatar, "we have known you were the avatar for some time, do you remember these?" one monk spoke, he then swiftly blew four toys towards Aang with a single gust of wind, "those were some of my favourite toys when I was little!" Aang stated before picking one up, "you chose them from amongst thousands of toys Aang, those toys you picked, are the four avatar relics, those toys belonged to avatars in the past, your own past lives" he same monk stated.
"I just chose these toys because me and Ky both thought they seemed fun" Aang said as he fiddled with one of them, becoming easily distracted from the large news that had been laid upon him. "You chose them because they were familiar," the monk said, "normally we would have told you of your identity when you turned sixteen, but there are troubling signs, storm clouds are gathering" Gyatso continued, "I fear that war may be upon us, young avatar" a different monk added.
"We need you Aang" Gyatso said, vulnerability noticeable in his tone."You may leave now."
Aang got up and headed towards the door, he opened it and walked straight out, a new weight now added to his shoulders. But before fully making his way through the door he overheard a sentence among the monks' whispers. "Ky helped him pick out his toys, do you think she may be, the second?"
Aang closed the door, too many things now whirling around his mind that he was unable to even fathom what he had heard as he left. Aang walked down to where he had left Ky but when he got there he noticed she was gone, Aang assumed she had been asked to leave by a monk, but he wanted to talk to her! Share his new amazing yet terrifying news! What was he going to do now?
It had been two days since Aang last saw Ky, she normally came down to visit him at his temple every other day, he hadn't seen her wandering the temple yet so he thought that she had perhaps been too busy today to come, or she was waiting for him right now in the heart of the temple!
Aang started to walk through the temple, seeing if he could spot his best friend Ky waiting for him when he saw a few of his other friends messing around with air scooters.
Aang was quick to react, instantly wanting to join in on the fun, "not bad! You guys have been practicing!" Aang said to one of the boys, "not only that! We made up a game you can play with the scooters!" the boy said, "great!" Aang said before creating a ball of his own and sitting on top. Once Aang had gotten onto his scooter, everyone came off theirs, "what's going on?" Aang asked, "now that you're the avatar," one started, "it's kind of an unfair advantage for whichever team you're on" one of the boys answered, "but I'm still the same, nothing's changed" Aang said, feeling quite upset, "so what? I can't play?" Aang asked, "that's the only fair way" the boy answered, Aang came off his ball of air "oh, okay" he responded, feeling defeated, he walked away to find something else to do.
