"Mum, wake up and fix me breakfast, pretty please." I hear Lucy whisper, "Dad's leaving for work in 5 minutes, too."

I let out a little yawn, "Alright, sweetheart, give me one minute."

She skips out of the room happily and I yawn and stand up, then walk into the kitchen, and kiss my husband on the cheek.

"Good morning, Melody," he says, adjusting his tie.

"Good morning, Jonathan," I reply, then ruffle Lucy's hair, "and good morning to you, too."

"Mum, what'd you do that for?" She groans and fixes her hair as I pull out a box of cereal.

"I'll be home late tonight, loves." Jonathan says and kisses me and Lucy both on the cheek.

"Alright. Be safe, dear." I say, pouring the cereal into Lucy's favourite cereal bowl.

I hear the door close and pass it to her. "Can we do something fun today, mum?" She asks, taking a bite.

"After you get out of school, yes."

"Oh, come on, can't I ditch just for today?"

"Absolutely not! You don't want to ruin your perfect attendance, do you?"

She sighs, "No, mum."

I smile and sit next to her, "That's my girl."

After eating breakfast together, I drop her off at school and head back home. After taking a two-hour nap, I decide to bake Lucy's favourite: apple pie.

When I'm about to pull it out of the oven, I hear the door open and shut again. I turn around to see Jonathan, sighing.

"What's wrong?" I ask, shutting the oven off and walking towards him. He never comes home for lunch so I'm wondering why he's here now.

"I can't do this anymore."

"Do what?"

"Lie to you."

"...What are you talking about?"

"Melody, honey, I'm cheating on you."

I take a step back, "I don't think I heard you correct, you're what?"

"Look, I'm sorry..."

"No, you're lying. Why are you-"

"-I'm not lying, okay? There's a girl called Penny at work that I've been seeing for about a year now."

"Are you kidding me?!" I scream and lunge towards him, "How could you do this?! Why the hell are you just now telling me about this?!"

"Melody," he grabs my hands and gently pushes me against the wall. "I'm sorry but I can't go on lying to you. It makes me feel terrible."

"You are terrible."

"I just wanted to let you know before our 10 year anniversary. I'm sorry. I love you-"

"-No you're not and no you don't. If you were telling the truth you wouldn't have done this to me."

He sighs and starts kissing my neck, "Let me prove to you that I love you," he whispers.

I push him back, scoffing. "Having sex with me doesn't prove shit." Then, I smack him. "And you're crazy if you don't think I want a divorce."

I'm not a fan of violence but he deserved that.

"A divorce?! Come on, now, that's-"

"-No! Shut up! Just shut up!" I scream, pulling my ring off of my finger and throwing it at him.
