Eight

I groan when I hear my alarm go off at 4 in the morning. Phil and I have so much to do.

We have to check out of our hotel, drive the car back to the dealership (which is an hour and a half away), call a cab, and then have him drive us to the airport so we catch our flight at 8.

I get out of bed and change into a comfortable outfit, preparing myself for the long day.

"Phil, get up." He hasn't moved a muscle since the alarm went off. He replies with a groan and I roll my eyes, finally turning on the lights. I see him cover his head with a pillow in response. "Phil, you need to wake up."

I'm seriously treating him like I treat Lucy when she doesn't want to get up and go to school.

"What would you do if I just lay here and not get up?" He finally asks.

"I would be infuriated, now please, come on." I answer him and start packing my stuff.  After I'm done I zip my suitcase shut and head to the bathroom.

Minutes later, a half-asleep-but-ready-to-leave Phil appears next to me. I smile and kiss him good morning. "Aw, you finally woke up, I'm proud."

After I'm done pulling my hair up in a bun he grabs my hand and walks us out onto the balcony. Since it's around 5, the sun is starting to rise. It's a beautiful sight.

"Melody, there's something very important I forgot to tell you when we were here on holiday." Phil says, squeezing my hand.

I avert my eyes from the sunrise to him, smiling. "What?"

He leans down and kisses me passionately, and my arms go around him, pulling him closer to me. When he leans back, he leaves his forehead pressed against mine.

"I love you."

I almost squeal when he says it because I'm so excited he finally told me.

I smile and press my lips to his again. "I love you, too."

We finally arrive back at our apartment at 1 in the morning.

"I'll be over in a few minutes," Phil says, kissing my cheek.

I nod and smile, and open the door to the apartment. Carrie fell asleep on the couch, and Lucy's door is shut. The room looks spotless, if not cleaner than when I left.

I tip toe over to Carrie and gently shake her shoulder. "Carrie." I whisper.

"Hmm...?" She leans up and blinks a few times and smiles when she sees me, "Oh, Melody, you're back. How was it?"

"Amazing, I can't wait to tell you everything. Is Lucy asleep?"

"Yeah, she passed out about 2 hours ago...and apparently I did as well."

I let out a chuckle and walk to my room, plopping my suitcases on my bed. Even though I'm very tired, I'm going to force myself to unpack my clothes before I go to sleep tonight. I absolutely hate unpacking when I get back home from a vacation so I might as well get it over with as soon as possible.

I head back into the living room and notice that Carrie's at the door talking to Phil. He sees me and smiles, and I walk over to him.
