Ch18.

Ryan's POV

I was checking out a coffee from the local Wawa. I was about to leave when Alexa called my name from the other side of the store.

"Ryan!" I turned around and smiled at her.

"Hey, Alexa." She walked over from where she was standing and I moved to the side so people could get past me.

"You wanna walk to school with me?" School was 3 minutes from Wawa, so it wasn't a long walk.

"Sure, cool with me."

"Ok, let me pay and I'll be right with you." She smiled and walked over to the cash register to pay for her things. She's been weird since yesterday. It was Sunday, and Hope went to tell her something and that's when she started to act weird. Like, when she's happy, she's overly happy. Or when she's angry, she gets overly angry. I wonder what her problem is? She walked back over and we went on our way to school.

"Hey Alexa, I feel like there's something wrong. You've been acting strange."

"Strange, why would you say that?"

"Well, you have been acting a little weird." She sighed

"Hope's pregnant."

"I'm sorry, what?"

"Hope's pregnant." My jaw dropped.

"Oh my god!"

"It gets worse."

"What? How?"

"She wants to to give the baby to me."

"WHAT?!?!?! WHY?!?!"

"Cause she thinks that she would be an unfit mother, and that the baby would be better off with me."

"Well, why can't she give custody to the father? Who is the father?"

"Jason, and she said he probably wouldn't want the baby."

"Did she talk to him first?"

"No, you see that's one of the bad traits of Hope. She assumes things before she can think logically."

"You have to speak to Jason, like now."

"Ok, I'll just grab my magic unicorn and ride on a rainbow over to his house. During which I sing a beautiful mermaid song about shellfish! Dude, you don't think I thought of that? I was going to tell him AFTER school. I waited a little bit because I needed some time to process this. I couldn't imagine how he's gonna take it."

"You know what? Lets skip school and tell him now."

"Ok, this is going to be fun.... NOT!" I laughed and she joined as we made our way to Jason's house.

Alexa's POV

I walked up the steps and rang the door bell. I knew he was home because he always stays home Mondays, except when there's a test and his mother makes him get up. I don't want to do this! I don't want to be the one who tells my best friend he's going to be a father. But I have to, because Hope made it very clear she was not going to tell him. The door opens and I see a very sleepy Jason rubbing his eyes.

"Alexa, what are doing here?" He asked.

"Can I come inside?" I told Ryan to wait at my house because I need to do this by myself.

"Sure." He stepped aside and I walked in and sat on his couch.

"Come one, I don't bite." I said.

"Yes, you do." He sat down next to me. "What's this about?"

"I have to tell you something."

"Well, what is it?"

"Hope's pregnant, and the baby's yours." He froze, bug-eyed. Then he did the unexpected..... he fainted. OH SHIT!

Jason's POV

I woke up alone on the couch. Was it all a dream? Then Alexa came out of the bathroom and I realized that what happened not that long ago was, in fact, not a dream.

"SHIT, I'M FUCKING SCREWED!" I screamed. That's when Alexa realized I was awake and ran to my side.

"Look, Jason it's going to be ok."

"MY MOM IS GOING TO KILL ME!"

"Don't think about that now. Think about the fact that Hope wants to give this baby to me. Now ask yourself this; do you want to keep this baby or not? And never speak like that to me again!" She scolded me like she's my mother.

Ok, I need to think. Do I want to become a father? I can't take care of myself, how can I take care of a little baby? I bit my lip. Why doesn't Hope want it? I have to go sort this out with her.

"Where's Hope right now?"

"She's at her house, probably crying." I grabbed my coat and went on my way to Hope's house. DAMN! How could this happen?
