Epilogue
Alexa's POV
(10 years later)
"Alice slow down!" I screamed at my 5 year old daughter.
She was the sweetest thing that could be, but when she was excited she could be the devil himself. I told her we were going to the park, and I'm telling you she became like some kind of animal! Being pregnant with my second child means I don't have the stamina I used to have at 16, now that I'm 26. She let go of my now squished hand and hopped on one of the swings.
"Ok, Alice. I'll be on that bench if you need me." I yelled while pointing over to a park bench that over looked the playground.
I watched as she swung her legs back and forth by herself. I never stayed in touch with my friends from high school except Ryan, my husband. Being shy like her mother once was, she never made friends, and in turn, has no one to play with. A little boy sat in the swing next to her. His mother, I assume, sat next to me as well. The boy and Alice started a conversation and I smiled at the fact my little girl is finally making friends.
"Is that your little girl?" The mother next to me asked.
"Yeah. Oh, where are my manners. Hello, I'm Alexa, Alexa Brown."
"Hope Wentz. Nice to meet you." I froze in the middle of our hand shake.
"If you don't mind me asking, was your maiden name Paskman?"
"Yes, why?"
"Oh my god! Hope it's me, Alexa Rodriguez, from high school!"
"Holy shit, it is you!"
"Wow, look at you. You haven't changed a bit. So how are things?"
"Great, my first son, Ralis, is 10 now and is probably playing a video game with Jason. Then, there's little Joshua on the swings, he's 5 now."
"That's wonderful! You have the family you always dreamed of."
"Yeah, so how are things with you?"
"Awesome, as always. I had little Alice, who is on the swings, five years ago. I'm still with Ryan and he's great. Then there's the little batch in the oven. Supposed to come out any day now."
"That's great. Well, I have to go home and feed the monsters so I was wondering if we should exchange numbers."
"That would be fantastic!" She grabbed a pen and a postit out of her purse and wrote down my number and I wrote hers down on my forearm.
"Well, we best be leaving. JOSHIE!" She screamed from where we sat.
He said good bye to Alice before running to Hope. Smart kid. She waved before getting in her car and driving away. Alice hopped off the swing and ran to me to tell me all about her new found friend. The entire walk home was nonstop talk about Joshua. I wanted to shove knives in my ears. We walked into the house and I was glad she ran up the stairs to play with some barbies.
"Hun, you home?" Ryan yelled from the kitchen. The smell of pasta wafted to my nostrils. Such a sensational smell. I walked into the kitchen to find Ryan in an apron and chefs hat. I thought he looked so adorable.
"Yep." He turned and smiled in my direction. Then focused on the pasta. "You'll never guess who I ran into today at the park!"
"Hmmmm, Selena Gomez?"
"No, smartass. I ran into Hope and her second little boy Joshua."
"Oh really now?"
"Yes, and sh- ahhhh!" I hunched over in pain. Then I heard the splatter of water. SHIT!
"Babe, what's wrong?" Ryan turned off the stove and rushed to me.
"It's time."
"Time? Time fo- oh that time. OH SHIT!"
He grabbed Alice and the bag we packed and left the women actually having the child in the house. It was 5 minutes before he realized he left me. He came back through the door and I flipped him off adding the 'your a fucking retard' look. He gave a guilty expression and helped me to the car.
We got to the hospital in record time due to Ryan's maniac driving. He helped me out of the car and into the hospital were a nurse showed us to a hospital room. Ryan was freaking out. If you didn't know he was going to be the father of a new baby you would think he's a spazzing lunatic.
"Ryan, will you come here?" I asked him. He was by my side in a matter of seconds. I beckoned for him to come closer. Then... I slapped him. "Get a hold of yourself! I'm handling this better than you and the baby is coming out of ME! So, suck it up and be a man you big baby, this wouldn't be happening if it wasn't for YOU!" I screamed in his face. He looked scarred shitless but calmed down nonetheless.
Five hours later I was sitting in a hospital bed holding a beautiful baby boy in my arms. He looked like the sweetest thing that could ever be. Alice came in the room being carried by Ryan who fainted during the delivery... AGAIN. I tell you he is the biggest wimp on the face of the earth. He put her down and she ran over to me me the baby to say hello to her baby brother.
"Hi little baby." She said to him. She looked confused. "Why can't he talk?" I laughed at her naiveness.
"Well, he's too young to talk yet."
"Oh, was I like that?"
"Haha, yes you were."
Ryan scooped Alice up in his arms and we all took a picture together.
"What is the babies name?" The nurse asked.
"His name is Jonathan." I said.
"Can we call him Johnny?" Alice asked.
"Sure sweet heart." I replied.
To think all of this happened because of one faithful day, when Ryan knocked on my door to use the bathroom. Funny how one thing can make someone's life so wonderful. And we lived happily ever after... for now that is.
