*Evangel's POV*

(Recommended listening: Tokyo Ghoul: Unravel: piano version)

I lazily walked over to Lucy's room and opened the door. She was still sleeping soundly. I walked over to her and put my hand on her back, hoping she'd stir.

"Rise and shine, sleepy head, we've got a big day ahead of us", I managed to croak out, "It's the first day of school, aren't you excited?"

"But it's still too early~" she answered, still half asleep, pulling her blanket up to cover her head,"Just gimme a minute, Evie.."

I grabbed her blanket and tossed it in the air "Sorry! Couldn't find any minutes in my pocket! Up up up!" I shouted teasingly

"HEY!!" she shouted, annoyed, but smiling widely. "Oh fine. But you're cooking this time!" she said, now completely awake, and got up.

"Alright, gotcha, now go take a get yourself cleaned and brush your hair.. Geez, you look like you've been hit by a hurricane!"

"At least it doesn't look like the rat's nest on yours!" she threw back, and ran to her bathroom, connected to her room.

I chuckled, and went back to my bathroom (connected to my room. Convenient eh?) and took a shower, and brushed my teeth. Afterwards, I put on some nice clothes and brushed my slightly long, blonde hair. I went downstairs and into the kitchen, and got some bacon out of the freezer, and 2 eggs. I'm not really a great cook, but I'm good enough to cook food well done and not burnt.

Lucy came down the stairs in her (signature) monochrome clothes. To be honest, we share the same taste for colors and clothing: monochrome. We've been called Laughing Jack and Jill in our previous school. Yup. Even though I rarely go in stripes. I like chessboard designs more.

"Mmm mmm, bacon!" I heard Lucy say from just outside the kitchen door.

"Hey, I know what your thinking." I said in mock annoyance, failing to hide my smile. "We're sharing the bacon, hotshot!"

"Fine with me." she said in a cheerful tone, and sat down to eat. I squirted some cooking oil onto the pan and threw some bacon in. I cracked the eggs and poured them into the pan.

"It's gonna be a little tough for the both if us, don't ya think?" I asked her without taking my eyes off the pan. Some oil got splattered on my hand and I recoiled in pain, clutching my hand and muttering curses under my breath.

"Besides the possibility of meeting strict teachers and alot of bullies, we'll be fine, Evie!" she replied, her voice overflowing with sweetness

"Hope that'll be true, Lucy." I said sincerely while putting the food onto our plates. "Well! Itadakimasu!"

We both laughed heartily and dug into our meals. We talked about our past and shared jokes while eating. She finished first and stood up to leave. I washed out dishes and went to my room, slipped my black trench coat on, got my bag ready, grabbed my phone and earphones and met her outside.

"We taking the bus, Evie?" Lucy asked.

"Sure. Saves us the time of walking in the snow." I reply.

The bus arrived just as I finished my sentence. Speak of the devil! We hurriedly got in and found two vacant seats in the middle. I took the seat beside the window and put my bag on my lap while Lucy followed suit.

"We're lucky we found two vacant seats, side by side, almost immediately," I said to Lucy, "could have taken longer."

"If you only found one, I'd be sitting on your lap by now" she whispered in my ear, and leaned on my shoulder.
