Locked Away

There is a door,
That used to be closed,
Once upon a time.
No one could open it,
It was truly sublime.

Once, someone took a peek,
Loosened it from the hinges,
And made it weak.
But with no interest,
He left it with a kick,
The door flew open with just a flick.

Tarnished and torn,
It wouldn't close.
Remained open, waiting for him,
Till it was worn.

What lay behind it,
Was shattered more.
The door won't shut,
And her heart further tore.

Slowly, she built up her walls again,
So thick and strong.
Managed to close the door,
Firmer than before,
Oh, it had remained open for so long.
Many came by,
But she drove them away.
Over and over,
To leave her alone, she would say.

She shall remain inside,
Locked forever.
Till the pain would subside,
The door would be opened never.

One day, she heard a whisper,
To ignore it she tried,
But it was different, her heart could decipher.

To her heart, she lied,
To keep it safe and sound.
But the whisper grew deeper into a voice,
And she heard, spell-bound.

The walls started to break,
Her interest was enraptured.
In warning, her heart did ache,
But her soul was captured.

The voice found the key and unlatched the lock,
Let himself in gently,
With just a knock.

Took her hand in his,
And pressed it to his lips.
She watched out, intently
For any tricks.

But when he smiled,
And shook his head,
She laughed,
Letting go of all feelings of dread.

My heart seems to hurt no more,
You are the one who didn't break,
But actually, opened the door.

I give you the key,
Don't lose it ever,
Keep it close to you,
You can have my heart forever.

You say you'll be here with me,
You mean to stay.
I can only wish that it's the truth,
Else my heart shall be locked away.
