Newt's POV

He opens the door and I can't help but gasp.

The room is dimly lit and the couch is placed a bit to the side. In the middle of the room, a tent is made from blankets. A path made from small candles leads towards the entrance of the tent. I see Tommy looking at me with anxious eyes. A large grin creeps over my face.

"Uh, do you like it?" Tommy hesitantly asks. I answer: "Like it? Like it?! I bloody love it, Tommy! This is great. Most little kids can only dream about something like this. I've always wanted this. How did you know?" Thomas laughs: "I didn't. I don't know, you just seem like the type of guy who would like things like this."

"Well, I do. Thanks." Tommy excitedly says: "Come on, go inside!" I do as I'm told and make my way in the tent. Fairy lights from my Christmas stuff hang up under the blankets. Pillows are spread across the floor. A laptop with a movie, ready to start, is placed in the middle of the tent, next to a cake that says:

Thank you, Newt.

"Oh, Tommy. That looks great. You didn't have to do that", I tell him. "But I did, and I loved every bit of it", he replies. "Let's watch a movie and eat cake." I happily nod. This is going to be a great evening. At least if it doesn't turn out like the one we had yesterday.

The other guy had chosen on some random action comedy, similar to the one we saw yesterday. It's okay. "This cake is really good. You're a great baker", I tell him. He thanks me. I think about how much I like the sound of his voice. How much I like the color of his eyes, his hair, his hands. I really like Thomas.

During the movie, I try to not stare at him, but I do allow myself some quick glances from time to time. Every once in a while, I look at him to find him laughing, smiling. I let myself admire his beautiful features in the dim light of the fairy lights. At some point, I look at him to find him looking at me. He looks me in the eyes. I want to look away, but I can't. I'm literally captured. I look from his eyes to his lips and back, while he does the same.

I know this moment looks too much like the moment from the day before, that didn't end well, yet, I can't pull away when he starts to come closer. I move my head closer to his. It feels like some sort of magnet is pulling me towards him. Some kind of force is pushing me and making sure I can't crawl back. At some point along the way, the film has disappeared to an almost inaudible whisper. He is all I can see.

And then we kiss. Our lips mold together and the familiar electricity shouts through my body, more powerful than ever. It feels like something I missed for so long, even though I never had it before. Everything seems perfect, until I remember why I can't kiss him. I pull away. Hesitantly I ask: "But what about Teresa?" Tommy looks confused.

"Teresa?" But then a wave of recognition hits him. "Oh! Teresa! Oh, no. You thought she was my girlfriend?" I nod. "No, no. Ew, no. Teresa is my cousin, but we're really close. I've been staying at her place after my roommates kicked me out of the house." A spark of hope courses through me. He continues: "Newt, I really like you. And that's odd, because I never like people. But somehow, you're special, and I really, really like you. That's also one of the reasons why I did all this. I want you to like me the way I like you."

I grin widely. Why did I ever deserve this. This is a great day. And I kiss him again. Tommy smiles in the kiss and it's the best feeling someone could ask for. The moment is just perfect.

"Oh, and by the way," I say, "I really like you too." Tommy wraps his arms around me and he hugs me tightly. We continue to watch the movie like that. When it is over, I say to Tommy: "I should go to bed. I've got work tomorrow." Thomas agrees with me and I crawl out of the tent, while he turns the lights and the laptop off. We blow out the candles and before I start walking to the bedroom, I take his hand. He's startled at first, but then he smiles at our intertwined hands and walks beside me.

In my bedroom, I casually take of my shirt and pants. "You know, Newt. I think you're hot." I blush. Well... I answer: "I could say the same about you, Tommy." He really is hot. I mean, have you seen him? He's definitely handsome. Both of us crawl in bed in our underwear. Tommy lies down close to me. I wrap my arms around him, and it feels nice, but somehow odd at the same time.

We try it another way, Tommy wrapping his arms around me instead, but it feels strange too.

"Turn around", I whisper. He does as told and I press my front against his back and put my arm over him. Yes. This is it.

"Oh, this is nice", Tommy whispers. I answer: "It is. Goodnight, Tommy."

"Goodnight, Newt." I give him a light kiss on his bare shoulder before drifting of to sleep with a smile on my face.
