Chapter 3

Callie went back to her condo and sat down and looked at the two items. Looking at the writing on the letter it was very old nothing she has ever seen. The necklace was very old but beautiful there was something about the necklace it has some kind of hold on her since she first saw it. Callie put it around her neck this strange tingling went through her body when she did. She decided to take the letter to the local library she talked to the head librarian she suggested that she go to a historian. She needed to find out about this letter what it says; who wrote it. She also hoped they could tell her something about the necklace.

A Few Days Later

Callie was back at work she still had not heard anything about the letter. She would call Mr. Harold this afternoon. The need was getting stronger to find these answers. She also noticed that somehow she feels different inside since she put the necklace on. Callie’s phone rang.

“Mr. Harold did you find anything out?” asked Callie.

“Yes Ms. Merrick I did and let’s just say this is something I have to explain to you in person.” he told her.

“Would tonight be ok?” Callie asked him.

“That would be fine your house 8:00.” he said.

“I look forward to seeing you.” she told him.

The rest of day seemed to fly by she could not wait to get home. Once at home it dragged on she wished 8:00 would come.

The door rang it was Jonathan Harold Callie let him in. She led him to the couch.

“Ms. Merrick what I found out my sound unbelievable but it is the real thing.” “The letter is written in some type of ancient early Greek I think.” “I showed it to a few co-workers the writing is closes to that.” “From what we can tell the letter is a story of goddess who had a baby and gave it away for fear someone would hurt the baby girl.” “It is said that the baby was taken to a secret Island which we believe is what was Atlantis.” he told her.

“Atlantis?” “Mr. Harold I know you said it was unbelievable it sound more like a fable then it being real.” Callie told him.

“Ms. Merrick I understand you find it hard to believe.” “When I first heard it I too did not believe.” “But with further investigation the necklace is said to be a give from her birth mother.” “The baby girl was born to a goddess that is said to be from a special deity and that baby girl has a special place in that deity.” he told her.

“What does this have to do with me?” “I do not understand.” Callie said.

“I have no idea Ms. Merrick.” “The man that gave you the key did he know anything?” he asked.

“Mr. Nye did not seem to know a lot.” she told him.

“I am going to see what I can find out.” “Thank you Mr. Harold for all that you have done.” Callie said.

He left and Callie looked at the letter she thought to herself.

“What does have to do with me?”

“What does the letter say and mean?”

“How does the necklace fit in all of this?”

It was Saturday so Callie decided to just throw comfortable sweats on and sit in front of her laptop. She also tried to get a hold of Bennett Nye but it was like the man just disappeared another piece of this puzzle. A few hours in front of the laptop and finding nothing Callie was ready to take a break.

She needed to go to her parent’s house she had not been there since the day of the funeral. Callie opened the door with her key walked in only to find the house torn apart. She called the police. The officers questioned her but she had no idea when it happened seeing she had not been there in over a week.

“Did your parents have a safe?” one of the officers asked.

“No not that I know about but that does not mean one is not here.” she told them.

“What could they be looking for?” she was asked.

“I have no idea.” she said.

After the police left Callie started going through the desk looking for anything that could give her answers. She looked in all the drawers that she could open but one had a lock on it and it was locked. She looked in the desk for the key she did not find one. But she needed to get into that drawer. Callie went and got a hammer and chisel from her father’s tools. She used them to break the lock. In the drawer she found a metal box with a lock in it she hammered it off. She opened the box and found an envelope it was sealed and had her name on it. Callie sat there looking at it for a long time. She thought to herself.

“Could this answer my questions?”

“Why did my parents hid this from me?”

Callie picked it up and opened it. She took the paper out and read it. Callie felt all the blood drain out of her face. She sat there looking at this piece of paper her hand trembling her mind spiraling. Thinking out loud.

“Oh my God No!”
