Chapter 4

Callie could not believe what she just read. This could not be true. Callie just thought she knew her parents but now she knows she did not know them at all. Callie thought to herself.

“Why did her parents not want her to know?”

“Does anyone else in the family know about this?”

“Is this connected to that letter in some way?”

Callie gets her cell phone and it the speed dial number.

“Hello, Sam I need to see you.” Callie said.

“Callie what is wrong?” “Where are you?” asked Sam.

“I am at my parent’s house.” “Can you come I really need to talk to you?” Callie said.

“I am on my way.” Sam told her.

Sam arrived ten minutes later. She saw the door was open and the yellow police tape. Sam went through the door she yelled for Callie.

“Sam I am in the office,” Callie said.

Sam walked to the office and took one look at Callie and knew something was horrible wrong. She looked around and saw how it was torn apart.

“My God, Callie what happened here?” asked Sam.

Callie held out the piece of paper to Sam to take from her trembling hand. Sam took it and read it. She looked at Callie in shock.

“I did not know Sam.” “How could they hide this from me?” “Who am I Sam I am not me anymore.” “This is the proof.” “What am I going to do?” questioned Callie.

“Callie sweetie lets calm down.” “I truly wish I the answers for you Callie but I do not.” Sam said.

“I do not understand why they would lie about something like this.” “I have every right to know the truth.” Callie said.

Several Weeks have Passed

Callie felt that maybe there was a reason her parents did not want her to know she was adopted. She put the letter and necklace in a safety deposit box and left them there. Out of sight, out of mind. It worked for a little while. But every now and then she could not help but think about them.

Then one day she received a letter in the mail that said. “I know the truth about who you really are, if you want the real truth met me tonight on pier 25 at 10:00 alone.” But Callie knew she never would truly know who she really was. Callie was debating about doing it but she thought about it and decided not to go. She did not have a good feeling about this. The next morning her phone was ringing at six o'clock.

“Hello.” Callie said sleepily.

“I see you don’t want to know who you really are.” “I am not playing games Callie it would be a smart move on your part to meet with me.” “You have no clue what your destiny holds for you.” the male voice said.

“I already know who I am not.” I don’t want to know who I am.” “I know that right now I have the knowledge that I have a job and friends and right now that is all I need.” “So you can go about your busy and leave me alone.” Callie told him then she hung up.

The man stood in an office there were others there. Callie wants no part of this, she does not believe. She is angry and hurt by what her parents did to her.

“I do not care what Ms. Callie Merrick wants or does not want.” “She needs to be brought to me and I will explain everything to her.” “Do you think you can do that?” a man with a gruff voice said.

Callie had a feeling that someone was watching her and following her. Callie called security to come and walker to her car in the garage. The man that came she did not recognize.

“Who are you?” Callie asked him.

“My name is Allen Peterson.” he told her.

“You’re new aren’t you? she asked.

“Is that a problem Ms. Merrick?” he asked

“Yes there is.” “Where is Roger?” Callie asked.

“Roger is sick tonight so I am a temp.” “I will walk you to your car.” he told her.

Callie had a bad feeling about this. Thinking fast.

“You know what I left something in my office that I need for this weekend.” she told him.

“I will go with you while you do it.” the guard said.

“That is ok, I will be fine.” Callie said.

“Ms. Merrick you do not understand you have no choice.” the guard said.

All of a sudden the guard grabbed her around the waist with one arm and then she felt a sharp pinch in her thigh from a needle then everything went black.
