It took a few seconds for my eyes to adjust to the darkness but then I could see my father motioning for me to come to him, I was about to make my way over to him when one of the intruders jumped me and knocked me down.

I could smell the wolf on them, it must be turned because all of the North American natural born werewolves are here, I couldn't believe they had the nerve to attack so blatantly as I tried fighting them off.

Then dad was there trying to kick them off me, he wound up snapping the guys neck and pushed me towards the door.

"Shouldn't you be helping" I said.

"Leave it to security, that's why we have them" he said.

"But they're your people too father" I said.

"Avery I have you and your brother to think about" he said.

I think that's about the only thing that could stop me from badgering him to help, not for me though I'm old to take care of myself but Devon still hasn't blossomed yet and I knew he was going to need someone there for him when it does happen.

So I let him lead me to a panic room, but most of them were getting filled up already and we had a hard time finding one that had room and we encountered more intruders, so before dad could pull me behind him I kicked one in the gut and nearly knocked myself over because of my damn high heels.

"Couldn't we have one event where these bastards don't attack us?" dad said punching the other.

I had to admit there was a lot of them, more than usual which made me think they might be recruiting more people, I was about to tell dad that when some more jumped through the window behind me and grabbed me and pulled me through the window and tossed me in a van.

It all happened so fast I didn't have a chance to react to defend myself, there were four huge guys in the van and one of them injected me with something that knocked me out because before I knew my eyes grew heavy and I passed out.

When I woke up my head was pounding and I was on a metal cot with a thin mattress and a rough blanket, I was still wearing my dress and it was cold in here but there were clothes on the end of the bed that were more warmer, so I grabbed them and tried putting them on without getting completely naked in case someone was watching, I wish that I had worn my smart watch so my family could track me.

Once I got the clothes on someone came in the door, it was Melissa.

"I thought you were dead" I said backing up a little.

"Your father thought my son stayed at home and went to college, he goes to school in Eastern Washington and I was there visiting him telling him that your rat bastard father might have actually done the right thing and owned up to being his father, instead I have to hear on the news that my pack, my family has been killed.
They were good people and they didn't deserve to be killed like that, I should kill you right now for it but I'm going to use you as bait to lure your father out" she said.

"I'm sorry about your pack but it's your own fault, one thing you don't understand about The Brotherhood is that they'll do whatever it takes to protect themselves, your threats to tell the council about your bastard got them killed, what did you think was going to happen he's the son of a turned there's no way he would ever have a position in The Brotherhood, oh and you turned my best friend your lucky I didn't send a team to kill you over that myself" I said.

She slapped me hard.

"We'll see about that, oh and consider Blake payback for your father's indiscretions" she said before turning to leave, the door shutting behind her.
