*Jacob's POV*
5 months.
5 freaking months in this hell-hole.
"Click."
The door opened to reveal him. The devil of this dungeon. As he walked towards me, I attempted to scooch back into the wall I was leaning against, but it was almost impossible to move due to the fact that my feet were bound and my hands behind my back. But the man kept coming and soon his nose was no more than a few centimeters away from mine.
"Get away from me you sick bastard!" I spat into his face. This was answered with a hard, and I mean HARD slap to my face.
"Talk to me like that again and you won't be talking at all," he whispered pointing to some duct tape on a nearby table, making shivers go down my spine. The fact that it was absolutely freezing in here probably didn't help with my shaking. My captor seemed to notice since he stood up and teased, "Awww, is poor Jakey cold?"
"Don't call me that!"
Bad idea.
"Oof!" I gasped after a quick kick in the stomach. I was now on my side curled into somewhat of a fetal position.
Once again, the man bent down until he was so close to my face, I could feel his breath on my cheek.
"I'll call you whatever the hell I want!"
And with that, he turned around and walked out.
*Laney's POV*
"Tears stream,
down your face,
When you lose something,
you cannot replace..."
I was lying in my bed, listening to Fix You by coldplay. At the moment, the song was describing everything in my life exactly. My face was drenched from the last hour I spent crying in my room. I was thinking about so many things and I was just hoping to lose myself in the music.
"Lights will guide you home,
and ignite your bones,
and I will try to fix you...."
"You can try but I don't think you can fix me," I thought out loud. My life was way too much of a mess to fix. Sure I was found innocent, but that doesn't make it all better. My boyfriend was still dead, half of the world still I thought I was his murderer including my mom, and to top it all off, some random guy decided to embarass me ON LIVE TV!
Ok, obviously this whole listening to music thing isn't helping me to not think. I shut off my iPod and turned on my television. I immediately regretted it.
"I didn't kill him, and that's the truth."
I watched in horror as the interview from earlier played on the screen. Ugh, why did I do this to myself?!
Just as I grabbed the remote to turn the TV off, the broadcast switched screens. What happened next caught my immediately caught my attention.
"It appears the police have found traces of evidence that might lead to a new suspect in the case of Jacob Stanley's murder. They don't have much, but the police wish for you to stay inside and lock your doors, the killer is still on the loose and it is possible that he may still be in the area. That's all the information they have given us so far. Back to you Steve..."
Before Steve could show back up on the screen, I was already up and packing.
Screw the indoors,
