*Jacob's POV*
God my arms hurt. Everything hurts. I lift my head, OUCH! NECK CRAMP! Why does everything hurt so much? Questions run through my mind as I examine my surroundings.
Ok, I think I'm going crazy, because I swear that just a few minutes ago I was in some dark, damp cellar, and now all of a sudden I'm stuck on the floor of some car? Why would I be in a-?
Oh yeah.
Wait a minute? Why aren't we moving? Ignoring my pain ridden body, I struggle to sit up and get a better look. There's nobody in the passenger seat or the driver's seat. Through the front window I can see I'm in a Walmart parking lot. Well I guess that answers why no one else is in the car, Crazy #1 and Crazy #2 probably stopped for some supplies.
Throughout my constant observing, I noticed that my hands were back to behing tied behind me. The car was probably locked too.
Damn, there goes my chance of running out of here. Unless.....
"Help! I've been kidnapped! Someone let me out!" An elderly coupled walked by and I shouted even louder. At least I thought I was shouting. I hadn't noticed it before, but some weird cloth was tied tight around my mouth so all that came out was some muffled distorted noise. I tried to attract some attention by thrashing around a bit, but with my bindings it was no use. The couple walked past the car unfazed and I lay down exhausted. What am I supposed to do now?
All I could do was think. I thought about a lot of things, my friends, my family, but the one person I could not stop thinking about was Laney. She was my everything, no, IS my everything and now she probably thinks I'm dead. My captors sometimes watched the news in the cellar just to torture me. With the amout of blood that was found in my room and the fact that my body had been missing for so long, they had no problem proclaiming me dead. But I'm not dead, I'M RIGHT HERE?! But if I know my girl Laney, she'll be looking for one of two things, she'll either be looking for me, or she'll be looking for my "murderer." She's my smart girl, she'll know what to do.
Then I start thinking about how good Laney is at math. I mean, I'm not that bad at it either, but Laney is AMAZING at it. She has like a 95 I think in Mr. Krick's AP Calculus class and he grades hard. What she does in his class, it's like she's cracking codes all day or something.
Wait....
Cracking codes. That's it!
I quickly search around for something I can use as an idea begins to form in my head. As I think more and more, I think of something brilliant that Laney would understand. I remember something from a book Laney and I read together. Ironically, the book was about someone who was kidnapped. In the book, the person leaves a series of clues that mean nothing to the kidnappers but someone in their family would understand. I lay back once more as I continue to perfect the plan in my head.
Time to get your head in the game, Jacob,
Cuz shit's going down.
*Laney's POV*
Geeze it's freezing out here! I check my watch for the billionth time, 6:00pm. I've been standing in the freezing cold for over an hour. I had put the sweatshirt on I had packed a long time ago but the wind still seemed to find its way to my bare skin. Stupid wind.
"Hello?!" I call out to the empty woods. Where the hell is he?!?! By now I don't care how dangerous this guy could be, can he just hurry up and get here already? I'm going to freeze to death for crying out loud?!
Bored and in the hopes of warming myself up, I begin to walk around. My legs tingle as blood starts to pump through them faster from the movement.
Again, where is the killer?! He is probably just waiting for me in a different part of the woods anyway, right? Well, at least the scenery makes this a pretty walk.
I continue step by step, wandering around tall trees. With each crunch of the leaves I feel even more determined to find my boyfriend's killer. He's going to regret ever contacting me. A smirk creeps on to my face as I imagine my future meeting with him. I couldn't wait to wrap my hands around his meaty neck and choke the daylights out of him! Boy will he be surprised when he sees what this bitch can do!
I laugh at my immature thinking. There's no way I could ever really hurt this guy, but if he's going to kill me tonight, he's going to feel some pain before I go. He'll feel what Jacob felt.
After walking around for about another hour, I give up and sit back against a sturdy tree. I checked my watch to see that it was only 7:00pm, why am I so freaking tired?
"I'll just rest here for a few minutes," I say to no one.
Out of habit, I pulled out my phone to check for texts. No new texts. No new calls. No new nothing. With nothing else to do, I opened up the last text I had received, the one from the unknown number.
I think I stared at that text forever. I don't know why, I think I was just hoping for some answer to pop out that I didn't see before. Like how in FedEx there's a hidden arroow between the "Ex" part of it, you know?!
5:00pm. Woods along Maple Rd. Come alone.
5:00pm. Woods along Maple Rd. Come alone.
5:00pm. Woods along Maple Rd. Come alone!
"Come on give me SOMETHING!" I shout at the now dark sky above, throwing my phone in the process.
"Shit!" Yeah, throwing your phone's not a good idea when your all alone in the woods, I learned that the hard way last year.
I dig around in my bag, searching for a flashlight-
which of course I forgot to pack.
"Come on moonlight, don't fail me now," I plead to the sky above. The moonlight wasn't that great to go by, considering the fact that it had to shine through a shit-ton of leaves before even making it to the ground, but it was better than nothing.
My hand stumbled upon something smooth, solid, and rectangular as I swept my hand across the ground.
My phone!
In the process of checking my phone over for possible cracks, I realize the text had scrolled down a little so that I could only see the bottom half of the text. This was so I could read the text signature at the bottom. ~BarbieGirl:P
Huh, that's funny, Jacob had the same text signature. Barbie girl was his favorite song, he's really weird like that, that's why I love hi-
Oh my god! I scroll up to see that this is the still the text from the unknown number. This text was sent from Jacob's phone! This can only mean one thing...
Jacob Stanley is alive!
OOOOOOHHHH plot twist! Well not really, I mean you guys have known for like a chapter or 2 that he's alive, but now Laney knows! Soooo, the ONLY person to comment on my last chapter was my sister, kmfluvsart, :(. So yeah, no dedications unless you comment! I'm thinking about taking the mean route of "This many reads and this many comments before I update again," but I don't know if that would be very effective. I feel like that would just mean I would never update again....
Anyways, this chapter might not be that long, it was really just kind of a filler so that I can start the actual chase, you know, pull everything together. But yeah, sorry if the chapter is short, I spent like 5 hours (jk more like 1/2 hour) on it. Wow, I feel like I'm apologizing to nobody. So yeah if anyone cares...
I started drivers ed last weekend! Did you know that "the most dangerous car on the road is the one you can't see"? yup learned that there! ;P AND the teacher bought the entire class huge ass donuts on our first day!
Wow, I think the Authors note is gonna be longer than the actual chapter D:, read, comment, vote.....PLEASE COMMENT THOUGH I LOVE TO READ COMMENTS! See y'all next chapter!
