FYI I'm having a hard time writing this new chapter because my sister and our friend are making a lot of noise and WON'T SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!! haha still love them though :P
*Captor's POV*
"Fucking tape!" I hear Jacob scream from the main room. What's bugging the kid now? I lazily roll off the bed I had been relaxing on and prepare myself for trouble. When I walk into the room I find an extremely worked up teen attempting to launch himself at a screen covered with the images of choking black smoke and fiery orange blazes. After shutting off the TV, I turn towards Jacob, he has stopped struggling and instead stares at me dumbfounded, as if awaiting an explanation, and boy do I give him one.
"Well, well, well, look's like I'll be paying the guy after all." I state, knowing the kid was smart enough to figure out what I meant. After exchanging a few heartless words, I returned to the bedroom to find college dropout leaning against the bedpost.
"Did I miss anything good?" he asks, eyes cast towards the ground. You could tell he was extremely tired and was glad he didn't have to deal with the Jacob situation that just happened.
I took a seat on an old wicker chair in the corner, leaning it back on its two hind legs. "Well," I start, cracking my knuckles for dramatic effect, "I'd been doing some thinking, and I figured Jake's girlfriend would be more of a threat than we thought. We can't risk her coming after us." I paused as my accomplice nodded, signaling for me to continue. "So I called up an old friend and asked them to...scare...Laney into leaving the case alone." Dropout's eyes widened, all tiredness replaced with fear and shock at what I said next, "I wonder how scared she was burning alive in her own house?"
*Jenna's POV*
"I'll call you back when I get home, Laney, I'm still at the gas station but it's only like 5 minutes away from my house." I ended the call before starting the car and driving off. "Lights on, Ashley," I say to my car, flicking on the headlights. Before you say anything, yes my car has a name, yes she is a girl, trust me I checked, and yes she is my baby.
I pull into the hidden driveway in front of my house and promptly head indoors.
"Hey Mom! I'm home!" I yell, once inside the warm, delicious smelling house.
"Hi Honey!" I hear her reply. "How was your day?" I follow the voice into the kitchen to see my mom pulling a freshly roasted chicken out of the oven.
"Pretty ironic actually," I say, setting the table with 2 extra plates.
My Mom laughs at my antics, "And what exactly do you mean by ironic? Although I think I could guess considering the extra dishes I see I'll be washing tonight."
I finish setting the table and explain everything to my mom starting with spilling coffee all over Laney and myself and ending with the impromptu housing invite. "I'm sorry I didn't ask your permission, I just felt really bad for them. I mean, they lost everything and the only thing I lost today was a job interview."
I soon felt my Mom's lips on my cheek and arms around my shoulders giving me the tightest hug. "You did the right thing." She then let go of her grip and returned her attention to the almost fully prepared dinner. "Now why don't you change into clean clothes. I'll yell to your father when dinner's ready. And dress nice, Nathan and his friend are eating here as well considering we're supposed to be celebrating a certain job interview that never happened."
I blushed at the mention of my boyfriend's name and also from the embarassement of missing my job interview. "Yes, M'am" I salute mockingly before heading up to my room.
*Laney's POV*
"And maybe he won't find out
that I know
you were the last good thing
about this part of town..."
I answered my phone as quickly as possible as soon as I recognized the caller ID.
"Jenna what the hell?! You hung up before I could give you my number! I'm still trying to figure out how you even called me back!"
"Ever heard of a recent calls list?"
I almost smack myself at my own stupidity.
"Never mind," I retort as I keep an eye on my mom talking to dad on her cell. "But seriously thanks for calling back, I'm still really confused as to what's going on." I listen patiently as Jenna explains everything. Basically, we would figure out sleeping arrangements once we were at her house and I would be borrowing Jenna's clothing until I could buy my own. When I told her that I was home-schooled by a hired tutor Jenna said that I could use the house library if I needed. Once I was given her address, I thanked Jenna once more before hanging up and waving to my mom. "Let's get out of here," I pleaded gesturing towards my mom.
"Agreed," Mom answered before following me to my car.
When we arrived at Jenna's house, I was a little bit in shock. The house was quite bigger than mine and kind of intimidating. As I approached the house, the front door opened before I even reached the steps.
"Laney!" Jenna shouts from the doorframe before running down the steps and pulling me into a hug.
"Hi, Jenna," I gasp, having lost all of my breath from her death grip. Thankfully, Jenna allows me to breathe as she unwraps me from her hug to shake my Mom's hand.
"Hi Mrs. William's, it's a pleasure to meet you. Please come in!"
"Thank you, Sweety," Mom replies before stepping into the house and being greeted by who I assume to be Jenna's parents.
"So," Jenna begins clasping her hands in front of her, "Why don't you come inside and meet everyone before dinner, my mom made her special Honey Glazed Chicken Roast!"
"Sounds good to me!" I laugh as Jenna grabs my sleeve and pulls me into the house. As I step inside, I'm immediately greeted by the mouth watering smells of a homecooked meal. I'm almost pulled into a food trance when I hear my name.
"Laney, these are my parents, Mom, Dad, this is Laney."
"It's a pleasure to meet you," Jenna's mom says while shaking my hand.
"Nice to meet you too," I say starting to feel self concious about being treated nicely. I barely finish the sentence when Jenna is pulling me towards two guys joking around with each other. One is tall with curly blonde hair cut at nice length so he did not have an afro (pic in the sidebar). The other had wavy sandy hair but was a little bit shorter.
"Laney, I'd like you to meet my boyfriend, Nathan!" Jenna says excitedly before planting a kiss on the tall blonde's lips.
"Hi, Nathan," I say feeling a little awkward.
"Nice to meet you Laney," he nods, snaking his arm around Jenna's waist.
"I'm Blake," the other boy adds, sticking out his hand for a shake. I hesitantly grasped his hand before turning back to Jenna.
"I think dinner's ready! Come on Nathan, let's go eat," she practically shouts enthousiastically before heading off towards the dinner table. I follow Jenna as well but decide to give a curteous nod to Blake,
just as he decides to give me a wink.
Oh crap.
Guys I'm not dead! No I'm not going to say I was busy, cuz frankly I wasn't, I just find it hard to write because I feel like nobody is reading my story and then I just think, what's the point? But I don't want to give up so I dragged my butt to my lap top and wrote! (BTW it's 12:30 am here so I'm feeling pretty accomplished). And just letting you know, I do have a car named Ashley and she is my baby.
Sorry this chapter was kind of a filler, I attempted to leave a cliff hanger at the end though. Sooooo, wonder what's gonna happen with Blake and Laney, will she play along or tell him to back off???
BIG news, I'm now part of a joint account with 2 of my BFFLS called slightly_twisted. I'm supposed to update a story on that account tonight but the kicker is, i didnt even write the first chapter nor have i read it!
If you are reading this, please comment a smiley face :)
Hater gonna hate, potatos gonna potate....
