*Laney's POV*

Backpack, check.

Water bottle, check.

Extra warm clothes, check....

I finished packing my bag with the necessities for my trip. I didn't know how long I would be gone for, and it's better to be safe than sorry right?

"I guess that's everything." I swing my bag over my shoulder and head out of my room. I slow down my speed and as quietly as I can, tiptoe down the stairs.

Creek

"Dammit."

"Laney, is that you?" I hear my mom question from the living room.

Think fast, think fast!

"Uhhhh, yeah mom, it's me. Just going to the bathroom?"

"And your telling me this because...?"

Crap! I'm such a bad liar! Rule number 1 of lying, don't answer questions that haven't been asked.

"Ummm, because....I...uh...I don't know. Just forget I said that." I say now standing in the living room.

"Well, ok then." My mom replied, and she went back to reading her book. I could tell she was still a little supsicious.

It's now or never.

I stomp really loud towards the bathroom, hoping she'll believe my crappy lie. After reaching the bathroom, I open the back door to my left. I didn't bother dampening the sound of the door opening and closing since my mom would think it was the bathroom door. Now to start up my car and leave. I realize my level of stupidy when I reach into my pocket to realize I left my car keys in the house.

"Well just my luck!"

I'm deciding whether or not I should just take a bus or something when I notice something else. I have no clue where I should start. God, I'm such an idiot! What did I think I was going to do, walk around town and say to any supsicious killer looking guys, "Hey! How're you doing? Are you by any chance my boyfriend's killer?" There go any dreams of being a detective.

Buzz Buzz

I look down towards the sound and feeling of my phone vibrating in my pocket. I read the screen to see "One New Message" printed in it's crisp black lettering along the center of the screen. I clicked view now to see that it was from an unknown number. And I know exactly who the text is from.

"5:00pm. Woods along Maple Rd. Come alone."

Well that's not creepy or anything...

The clock on my phone read that it was already 4:30pm and Maple Rd is about 2 miles from my house. I know it's stupid, to go along without a weapon or any form of protection, but right now, I'll do anything to put Jacob's killer in his place, even if I get myself killed in the process.

"Guess I better get moving." I say to nobody.

One last final thought runs through my mind as I begin to jog down the road.

"How did he get my number?"

*Captor's POV*

"Dude, what're you doing?"

I looked over at my accomplice who was asking me the question. I was in the passenger seat of our Ford pickup truck. Yeah, yeah, I know, most kidnappers use a big white or black van, but this ain't the movies. And a pickup truck is less suspicious anyways. As far as anyone seeing Jacob, he was knocked out cold behind me. He had rolled out from lying on the seat about 10 miles back so now he was on the floor with some coats covering him up in case of snoops.

"Hello?!"

"Huh?! Man watch the road and quit talking to me!"

I noticed my accomplice focus more on what was in front of him as I continued with what I had originally been doing.

"If I'm gonna be working with you, you gotta tell me what your doing."

This guy just won't shut up will he?! Might as well tell him.

"I'm trying to fix our problem. We don't need anyone following us out of here." The driver's face turned from focused to confused.

"But didn't that broadcast say that we were still in the area? No one should suspect us to leave."

"You don't get it do you? That Lacey girl is scotch free with this whole case now. She's gonna come after us. I need to get her off track and this,' I hold up Jacob's phone "should do the trick."

I went back to scrolling through the contacts until I found one that said "Lacey<3GF". I clicked on it and typed a quick text.

5:00pm. Woods along Maple Rd. Come alone.

I add *67 to the return number so that the text would shown up as it would from an unknown phone before I pressed send.

"There." I say, feeling satisfied with my work. "Now she'll be waiting at Maple Road while we're going as far away from there as possible."

Hey guyssss! So I tried the multiple views thing again but I'm not sure if it will be multiple pages this time. I kind of suck at lengthening my chapters. So yeahh...and if I don't write for a while it'll be for a few reasons.

#1. I start Drivers Ed tomorrow! and I will being every Sat and Sun till mid July.

#2. I'm having trouble making this whole story come together. Like, I want Laney to actually be able to start following Jacob's kidnappers somehow I'm not sure how she's going to do that since she's just gonna be waiting in the woods for a while.

I know no one is reading this but I have a preposition. If by chance people are reading this, feel free to comment/message me ideas on how Lacey will find the real route Jacon's kidnappers are taking. If I use your idea, I'll dedicate the next chapter to you and will give you credit!

Love y'all! <3
