Before starting the actually story I just wanted to send a shoutout to one of my most bestest friends in the whole wide world! HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESSIMACA! 6/23

*Laney's POV*

What the hell just happened? One minute, I'm avoiding the presence of people because of Jacob's case, and now I'm making friends because of Jacob's case...I'm so frigging confused right now!

Sighing, I pick myself up off of the bathroom floor and wash the sticky coffee residue off my hands. The cool water felt nice against my slightly burned skin, damn that coffee was hot! I take the time to fix my makeup as well, I wipe the runny mascara from my face and pat my eyes dry.

"And maybe he won't find out

that I know,

she was the last good thing

about this part of town..."

My familiar Fallout Boy ringtone plays as my phone buzzes in my pocket. Before answering, I see that the call is from my mom.

"Hey Mom."

"Laney, where are you?!" She sounded frantic and scared. What the hell is going on at home?!

"I just stopped at a gas station. Why, what's wrong? Is everything ok?" Questions are scrambling through my mind as Mom continues to panic.

"Just get home now! Don't dilly-dally, get home as fast as you can!" She sounded like she was on the verge of tears.

"Okay, I'm on my way, but what's going o-" a loud singular beep signals that the call was cut off. I don't even bother drying my hands as I book it out of the bathroom. I'm almost out of the main entrance when I hear Jenna yell from inside, "Woah! You in a hurry or something?"

Not wanting to be rude, I pivot quickly on my foot, "Umm, yeah, family emergency."

"Oh ok, again, call me if you need anything," she says before turning her attention to the cashier as she pays for another coffee.

"Will do!" I respond before once again sprinting to my car. The sky was a lot darker than it was earlier making it much harder for me to unlock the door. Finally, I fumbled with the keys just right and managed to slide in. "Please let Mom be okay!" I pray to myself as I pull out of the parking lot. "Just please let her be okay."

*Jacob's POV*

I had not been here 10 minutes and I am already bored.

Bored

as

fuck.

"You okay?" I hear from nearby. I look over to my left to see Driver Guy lying on the couch. He didn't take his eyes off of the news on the television. I didn't answer, not exactly sure what to say.

"Dude are you deaf?"

"No!" I retort back, annoyance cleary etched in my tone.

"Alright, then answer my question."

I lift my eyebrows in an attempt to make an "are you kidding me" face. "How am I doing?" I ask, clearly mocking this question that happened to be so important. Driver Guy jerked his head up and down in a "no shit" kind of fashion. "Let's see..." I continue, "Well, so far I've been taken away from everything I know, haven't had any form of contact with my family who now all think I'm dead, have been starved for 5 months, and can't even stand up to take a piss because I'm duct taped to a fucking chair!" I jerk my hands behind my back to show my point. "But other than that, I'm just freakin dandy!" I quickly shut up, remembering that this guy could seriously hurt me if he wanted to.
