WITCH WAY BY OMEN
CHAPTER ONE: DEMON HANGOVER I
I opened my eyes and rolled on my back. Sunlight streamed through the top of my bedroom curtains encasing the room in a warm glow. I grabbed my alarm clock and held it up in front of my face. 10:35 it read. Just great I thought, almost two hours late for work. It wasn't my fault that stupid demon decided to show up so late. I had been waiting to kill it since 8pm the night before. Throwing off the blankets I sat up, my tight sore muscles making me groan. I discarded my alarm clock on the bed and drew back the curtains, sunlight poured in the room blinding me for a second. I quickly showered and dressed not eating breakfast. When I got to work I saw my boss, Ron and tried to duck.
"Alix!" he roared when he saw me.
He was furious at me as usual but I had some pictures that would make him smile. I went straight to my office with him in tow shouting threats to fire me at my back. I pulled out my pictures and handed it to him. He fell instantly silent and looked at the pictures while regarding me with suspicious eyes.
"Dont be late again" he said and walked out with my pictures in his hand. I smiled to myself satisfied that he was satisfied.
Working as a photographer at 'Sparks' was my dream job but sometimes my other life got in the way. Yes, like last night's demon. I wouldn't have been late if it decided to be on time. I put my computer on and got to work when my cell phone rang. It was my best friend Kazia.
"Hey stranger" she said when I answered
"Hey yourself" I said back
"I've been trying to get a hold of you all morning. Where were you?"
"Asleep" I told her. She made a gasping sound. "Yeah, I know, Ron was furious. But I took care of that."
"I sure hope so. Anyway I called to tell you about our little beach gathering later today. We haven't seen each other in ages, will you come?"
"Sure" I told her.
"Great" I could hear her smiling through the phone. "Everyone will be thrilled to see you"
"Uh-huh" I said with no enthusiasm. That was unlikely since most people thought I was weird without knowing I was a witch.
"Don't be sulky, Alix" Kazia chastised. "Jay and Lisbon will be there"
They were the few people along with Kazia who ignored my weirdness making up my few friends. Kazia gave me the location and time I was to arrive before returning back to work. Just great, I thought if Lisbon was there it meant the fancy crowd will be there as well.
