CHAPTER 4: THE AWAITED ANSWERS
The next morning I rode in early to work showing Ron what a loyal and determined employee I was. Of course my plan was to have an extended lunch break that I could use to try and find Jasper. One of the many benefits of being a witch was that I could find out the whereabouts of people with my minds eye. My power was only limited to finding those who I'd touched directly or my magic had touched, someone like Jasper, and a good thing that was. It would have taken me a long time to finally find him. I sat in my car with my eyes closed, using my mind to sought out the shape shifter. My eyes flew open when I found him. That asshole, I thought. I got my car started and drove home intending to rip Jaspers head off if he didn't manage to kill me first. Breaking and entering my house, the nerve of that guy. I parked my car outside my driveway so I could catch the thief red-handed. My house was a small two bedroom house and right now didn't look like a victim of a crime or invaded by a shape shifter for that matter. The door was closed but unlocked. I let myself tiptoeing quietly scanning the rooms for Jasper. I didn't find him down here and made my way upstairs. After I checked the spare bedroom I then headed to my room. The moment I stepped inside I was instantly grabbed from behind by large hands. I gave out a startled cry and struggled to break free but stopped when I heard soft chuckling. "Let go of me, Jasper" I said to him. Please don't kill me. Please don't kill me. He released his hold on me, thankfully, still chuckling he said: "Sorry about that, I thought you were a burglar"
I wanted to punch him hard but was still a little shaken by having huge arms around by fragile neck. "This is my house! What the hell are you doing here?"
"Isn't it obvious? I'm robbing the place" I'm sure my face turned red with anger at this point because he eased up on the annoying chuckling. "I'm kidding"
"Sure you are" I frowned "What do you want?"
"Actually I was just leaving"
"I doubt that, but I can walk you to the front door" I smile sweetly at him. Jasper let me walk him out. I almost forgot why I was looking for him in first place. "I found your demon" I said. We were standing outside on my porch. He gave me a look short of surprise. "It paid me a visit last night on the beach"
"What happened?" he asked
"Nothing. I saw it and its red eyes but then it disappeared into the forest when I went after it."
His silver eyes deepened in thought.
"So, are you going to tell me what's going on here?" I asked. He looked at me like a spoilt kid who didn't want to share. "You did break into my house" I reasoned
Jasper pulled in a deep breath then let it out, "Fine, not that there's much to tell, you already guessed most of it"
"Aha so you admit I was right"
He scowled at my statement.
"What kind of demon is it?" I persisted "I've never seen anything like it before"
"Well, you wouldn't, its something you best stay away from and leave to the professionals"
"Okay, I'll step aside when they get here"
He shot me an irritated look. I smirked in victory. That's what you get for breaking into my house, smart ass.
"Yeah, that's real funny" he said sarcastically and stepped of my porch "I'm done here"
"No, you're not, you didn't tell me anything about the demon"
"I'll tell you this: Don't get involved. What you saw on the beach wasn't even the real demon, just a piece of it" Jasper paused and leaned toward me, his silver eyes piercing mine "It's a shadow demon" he said.
