 Sapphire's POV

Rain, rain, rain. That's all it ever does now. I can't go to school, I can't go out, I can't go anywhere! Everywhere's flooded, great.

Mum's with my dad at the hostpital, he nearly drowned! When the water started gushing into our house, he was asleep on the sofa. He woke up when the water reached his neck. He was airlifted to hospital. I have to stay at home.

I turn on my tv. in my room, there isn't anything on so I decide to draw instead. I draw a big white cloud with a little land on top of it. I get as far as the houses and buildings when I hear a noise like a rushing river. I run out of my room and onto the landing. The water is coming up the stairs! I try to turn around but the laces on my shoes are undone and I tread on one of them and fall. Splash!

I try to swim but the water is freezing and all my breath is knocked out of me. I'm sinking deeper into the water. I'm gonna die. I think. I'm actually gonna die.

I wish the water would go down and the rain would stop.  I'm almost paralized from the cold. Then I feel a sharp pain in my leg and something invisible seems to push me up onto to dry stairs. I stand up,shivering and gasping for breath. I look down at my leg and see a trickle of blood running down to my ankle. I sit on the stair and look at it properly. For some reason a sea shell has clamped itself onto my left leg.  I feel dizzy and sick. I try to go back to my room but I trip and fall. Then everything goes black........
