Shit gets real
Trevor and I burst through the doors of a large cafeteria-like room.
"Quick, help me with this!", I command Trevor, grabbing a heavy table. Together we drag it across the floor and block the door to keep the swarm of undead out."Shit! Shit! Shit!", Trevor exclaims nervously while pacing back and forth with his hands grabbing his light brown hair, "This wasn't supposed to happen! We're gonna die! We're trapped n' we're not gonna make it out!"
"Shut up, Trevor", I mutter loudly over the noise of hands striking the cafeteria door.
I look around the well lit by sunlight pouring in through the windows, a door on the other side but boarded up. There's lots of tables and chairs but nothing we can use to get out. I look to our right and see a large vent near the floor. Bingo.
"Over here", I say to Trevor as I run over to the vent. I pull out my switchblade and jam between the vent cover and the wall. I start to pull, and the vent cover snaps off, the rims covered with dust.
I shine my flashlight into the vent to make sure it's clear."Let's go", I say. The noises outside the door we came through start to get louder.
I crouch and enter the vent, Trevor trailing behind me. I cough after I breathe in the damp, dusty air of the vent. I use the flashlight tied to my M-16 to shine our way through the darkness. It turns to the left up ahead, and as Trevor and I crawl around the corner, a loud commotion coming from the cafeteria echoes around the vent. The walkers must have gotten through.
I glance back over my shoulder, seeing Trevor tremble with fear, beads of sweat running down his face.
"Hurry!", he pleads. I face forward and start to crawl faster around the corner.
The vent comes to an end, blocked by another vent cover.
I bring my legs forward and start to kick at the covering. The sound of clanging metal rings throughout the tunnel. After a few more strong kicks, the rusty vent cover snaps off, giving me and Trevor a way out.
"Glorious", I mutter gleefully as I climb out of the vent and standing up, realizing that we made it to the loading dock. My dark colored pants are covered with dust.
Trevor climbs out and excitedly exclaims, "Fuck yeah! We made it! Where's the gas at?"Trevor looks over to the far right of the room and sees several long rows of gas cans next to a large generator.
"Well I'll be damned", he breathes.I walk down a wooden ramp, my assault rifle at hand. It's a pretty big area of the building, designed for trucks to load up on supplies and such. A wide garage door is what we have to open for DJ and Eli to help us get the gas. I run over to the large door and examine the lock.
"You didn't bring that axe, did you?", I sarcastically ask Trevor.
"Do I look the kinda guy who keeps an axe in his damn pocket?", Trevor asks me, holding his arms out to the side."Alright, stand back", I tell him. I back up and aim my assault rifle at the lock. I pull the trigger, a storm of bullets striking the lock and breaking it.
Trevor and I lift the wide door of the loading dock and standing on the other side is DJ and Eli.
"What took you guys so long?", Eli asks me, his sword in his grasp.
"Had to take a detour", I tell him, "Call up Anna. Tell her to drive the van over here."Eli brings his walkie talkie to his mouth and speaks, "Anna, bring over the van. We're gonna load up the gas-"
A loud banging noise from a door inside the loading dock catches our attention.
"Make it fast", Eli adds."What the hell? Walkers?", DJ asks, aiming his combat shotgun at the door.
"Yeah, a shitload of 'em!", Trevor exclaims, "We gotta hurry."Just then, the rumbling of the moving van is heard clear as day. With Anna driving it, she pulls around the building, then backs up the van into the loading dock. She, Theo, and Emma climb out of the vehicle.
"Everybody, grab as much as you can carry!", DJ shouts. The seven of us all grab two large, red cans of gasoline and toss them into the back of the moving van. This process continues for almost a minute, by then there's over two dozen cans of gasoline inside the van.
A loud snap of wood is heard from the door. The door is breaking, and the walkers are trying to get through.
We all watch in horror as it finally gives, and the decaying monsters come pouring into the loading dock."Shit!", Theo exclaims, climbing up into the moving van.
"Everybody haul ass!", Eli shouts.DJ and Anna run to the front of the van and climb inside, the van rumbling to life.
Eli and Emma climb up into the back of the van, I start to climb up as well before the walkers start to get closer.
"Go!", Emma yells to Anna. The van drives out of the loading dock and into a large open area behind the building, with Trevor and I hanging off the edge of the back, my rifle hanging from the strap around my shoulder. Eli runs over and grabs my hand, helping me climb up into the inside of the van. Trevor manages to get his upper body into the van, but the vehicle hits a bump in the concrete and he falls off of the moving vehicle.
"Trevor!", Emma shouts in panic.
I stand up and see Trevor slowly getting to his feet, an enormous swarm of walkers coming out of the loading dock. There was much more than we thought.
I take a deep breath, ready my M-16, and I jump out of the moving vehicle.
"David! What are you doing?", Eli calls out to me. The van drives off to an area beside a smaller building and swerves to a stop.
I run towards Trevor and help him to his feet, his thin beard splattered with blood from his mouth.
"T-thanks", he mumbles.
"Don't thank me yet", I tell him as I aim the assault rifle at the walking corpses, limping towards us while snarling their rotten teeth.Trevor pulls his pistol out its holster and starts to shoot at the walkers, nailing several.
I pull the trigger of the heavy rifle and manage to kill a few.
Trevor and I back up as we unload on the horde of walkers. We turn and around and run towards the van, but we only see it drive off as more walkers pour out of the smaller building next to where the van was stopped.I catch a glimpse of Eli, standing up in the van with the back door still hanging open as it drives off.
"Where in the hell do we go now?!", Trevor shouts, panicking.
I shoot at the immense horde of undead from the loading dock. I spot a rusted staircase built beside the smaller brick building.I lead the two of us to the staircase just as the two swarms of walkers join together to form a single horde. I run up the staircase, Trevor right behind me.
I hear Trevor scream in fright, and I turn around to see a mangled walker grabbing the sleeves of his black jacket, trying to bite at Trevor's flesh.I fire my rifle and kill the walker.
The small staircase leads to a metal door. I yank it open and Trevor and I run inside, slamming the door behind us as the enormous amount of walkers reaches us. They begin pounding at the door, trying to get in.
"You okay?", I ask Trevor, out of breath.
"Yeah, yeah", he assures me, dropping his gun and looking over his arms, "I'm..."
Trevor looks down at the torn flesh on his right hand.
He's been bitten.
Well shit XD
