Dux Pov

We ran all day and almost all night, only stopping to take a quick nap. My mind burned at the thought of my little sister in the hands of the King of the East. Finally, we reached the edge of the Eastern Kingdom and decided to camp.

I trekked through the dense forest, a knife in hand ready to hunt a meal. Stopping at a middle sized oak tree, I began to climb the trunk and perched on one of the branches, waiting.

Soon enough, a doe wandered along my path and started nibbling on the few blades of grass nearby. I rubbed my finger along the blade and closed my eyes to whisper a small prayer to the moon goddess and asked to make this death a quick and painless one.

Blinking my eyes open, I quickly threw the knife and watched it enter the doe's eye and penetrate the brain, an instant death. I jumped down from the tree and landed in a crouch before stalking over to the doe. I pulled out my knife and softly thanked the doe for its life. Hoisting it over my shoulder, I quickly headed back towards camp where the others were waiting for me.

Entering camp, the others were already waiting, smelling the blood from miles away. Slicing off pieces for me, I tossed them the rest of the carcass as I settle down next to the small fire to fry the meat on a stone that I previously placed in the fire.

As the meat sizzled, I watched as Lapis and the others growled at each other over the meat, animal instincts taking over. Flipping the fatty meat with a knife, I gingerly placed the rich protein in my mouth and chewed thoughtfully. After dinner, Lapis and the others gathered around the fire as I took first watch on a rock not so far away.

Bundling myself up with my wolf coat and an extra fur blanket I brought, I perched myself on top of the boulder and kept a careful eye on our surroundings with spear in hand. Two hours went by and there was no sign of movement, only the moon's beams shining down on us.

Terra shifted in his sleep and stood up, yawning and stretch as he made his way over to me.

"Alpha, time to switch." he grunted, settling back down by the rock I was on. I remained frozen, scanning the area.

"Something is off." I muttered, gripping my spear even tighter.

"Everything is silent." Terra assured me. I frowned and stood up, stretching my stiff joints.

"That's exactly it. The forest should never be this silent. Keep your eyes and ears open." I warned him. He nodded and I headed towards the pile of fur sleeping on the floor.

Finding Lapis near the center of the group, I burrowed myself into his side and fell into a deep sleep.

I was awake before the sun broke the moon's power over the sky. Silently laying there, I ran my fingers through Lapis' fur and with my other hand, stroked Ignis' ear.
