Recently in Ghosts of the Past: Emma, Regina and Hook are on an illusion of a deserted island and the dagger is missing. Will it all fade and will they wake up? Will Hook remember everything? Are the ghosts real or are they, too, just an illusion?

This or the next chapter might be the last, then I will do a sequel called 'Once Upon a Dream' *^* In the next chapter, I WILL DO A SHOUT-OUT TO THE READERS THAT HAVE STUCK WITH ME AND HELPED ME BY GIVING ME IDEAS AND SUPPORT TO CARRY ON WITH THIS STORY.

Have hope -

"We have to find a way of this island," Regina mutters, looking down at her watch every five minutes. "That land we were in was an illusion, so it this, we just have to find the clues and then wake up. In the last one, Raven woke us up and sent us here. Now we have to figure it out ourselves or die trying." I tell her. Regina and Killian look at me, a mix of annoyance and surprise. "What happened to the hope speeches, to never giving up? The one time we need it..." Regina trails off, angry.

I sigh then remember something. "Fire." I, again, get confused looks from them and I roll my eyes, not believing they haven't figured it out yet. "Raven's mother died in a fire. That's our clue, that's why she  showed us her past! Not to tell us but to warn us, to give us the clue of what to do!" I tell them, getting excited; I finally understood.

"Okay...but...warn us? Swan she's the enemy." Killian reminds me, giving me a look that said 'careful where you step.' "No, she isn't. I think that she can't control her power or that she doesn't mean harm. Maybe she didn't have a choice! You said it yourself, Regina. Fate pushes us. Maybe she was pushed."

Regina seems sceptical but nods anyway, knowing there's no point to arguing with me. "No, Emma might be right. If it gets us off this island, then so be it." Killian was still unsure but nodded anyway, even though he still didn't trust this 'Raven', specially after everything he had heard of her but Emma seemed to be fond of her. Maybe because she too hadn't had a family at her age, maybe because she also had problems with her magic and her powers.

/Time skip/

Neal was also on that deserted island, looking to trap Emma into losing her body so only her soul would remain. That way he could be with her. Forever. He knew that Emma was free, free like a bird or like a butterfly, he would prefer. But he would do anything to be with her again even if that meant cutting her wings and entrapping her into his web of a dream-catcher. He wanted to be with Henry too, so as soon as he got back to Storybrooke, he'd do the same with the boy. He would not lose another family to that wretched pirate.

He didn't know the truth. The truth that his soul probably wasn't there anyway. He didn't know that he was nothing but an illusion of the mind, everyone's mind and mostly his because he was the most desperate of all. Despite his love for Emma, which was mostly pure in a way, he was desperate and selfish. Desperate to have it all, to have the perfect family, to take them back before the pirate could have them. Selfish because he would do anything to tie them to him so that they had to be with him.

He was selfish because he wanted Emma in his life so much, so badly that he forgot about others. He forgot that maybe she didn't want that, that she was different now but of course, he wouldn't realize this because he too blinded by his wishes; too blinded chasing for love that was never there anymore. Too blind chasing for something that had left long ago.

Emma, Killian and Regina ran, they ran for their lives as a creation of magic chased after them, something bigger than a dragon, faster than an ice monster and stronger than any other magic. This was unlike anything any of them had ever seen, even though Emma had had her fair share of strange and Regina was common with pretty much anything out there and Killian had lived for about 200 years and seen his fair share of magic, this was still unlike anything anyone had ever seen. The giant's hand almost hit Emma, it could have killed her. But no.

Killian stepped in front of her and the monster's hand hit him. All that could be heard was Regina's stunned silence followed by a gasp and Emma's cry of angst. She dropped down to her knees, shaking him with force. Tears fogged her vision. The monster got closer but Emma paid no attention, even when Regina pulled both of them out of the way.

"Killian...you...idiot! Why-why did you step in front of me?" When she got no reply, she shook him harder. "Answer me!" She shrieked, tears now streaming down her cheeks with no sign of stopping. "Emma." She heard the urge in Regina's voice and looked up. The same look of horror on her face.

The island was falling to bits, the illusion fading. One sacrifice, one gain, one loss, some recovered, some lost. Raven's voice echoed. Then it hit her. The only way they could have ever left the island was if something sacrificed themselves. No. No...

She looked down for a second, Killian still lay in her arms, unmoving, then she heard it.

Ba-bump. A heartbeat. That was all she needed to go on, that there was still hope left. This is why we must never lose hope. Ba-bump. Again. Tears of relief trailed down her cheeks. Thank you. But then, a minute passed and the beat was too slow and soon she couldn't hear it. It was fading; he needed a hospital. Please...please save him, save us. Somebody, anybody. Please.

"Killian!" Her voice was desperate, shaking him, her hands were numb, her whole body was rooted there, as she watched that illusion, that world destroy itself. And soon, all she could see was black.
