Not what it seems

A/N: Sorry for late update...been busy revising for my exams in as week or so.

I could hardly breathe as she stood in front of me and my vision blurred for a second as I steadied myself against the marble counter, heart racing. "Evangeline...How are you here? Looking so well? I just saw you in the hospital." I barely managed to whisper. She sent me a grin, a mischievous glint in her silvery eyes. "My magic can heal me, just like yours can. I came back for you. To find you, so we can get revenge on the one who did this to us."

I froze at her words. "Revenge? B-but...you were never one for revenge. It was always me who wanted to get people back for what they did." I trailed off and she gazed at me for a few seconds before blinking. "Not all is what it seems, Raven." Was all she said to me. And before I could even control it or stop it, I found myself spiralling into my own memories of long ago.

The fire hadn't been put out yet. Who would? Almost everyone was dead with only about ten survivors of a town of hundreds, including me. Five of the survivors were injured but most of the doctors had run away themselves or had been killed too. There no doctors in our small group of survivors. For now, there was nothing we could do but try to survive, to stay alive somehow. My hands trembled and I found myself running to my home. Why? I did not know. There was no point, I knew that  but I had to. I had to see if...if they were all truly dead.

If I was truly all alone.

Meanwhile in Emma's apartment.

"What do you make of her anyway?" Hook asked as he started laying the table out. Emma looked up from her cooking and shrugged. "I'm not sure but I feel sorry for her. I know what it's like. She did want revenge though, that could affect all of us, plus, I hear she has powerful magic." The door opened and her parents walked in.

"Regina called to remind you that she's taking care of Henry tonight so you won't have to pick him up from school or anything." Snow told her daughter before helping with the food while David helped with the table. "Right. So...what do you think of Raven?"
