A massive anomaly ravaged Japan's mainland and destroyed most of Tokyo, sinking three-quarters of the city into the ocean.
Ten years later, the story shifts to Ganta Igarashi, a seemingly ordinary student attending Nagano Prefecture's middle school. As an escapee, a survivor of the great earthquake, Ganta has no memories of the tragedy and has lived a normal life. This all changes when a strange person covered in blood and crimson armor floats through his classroom windows. Grinning madly, the 'Red Man' massacres Ganta's entire class but instead of killing him, embeds a red crystal shard in Ganta's chest. Within days of the massacre, Ganta is subjected to a kangaroo court as a suspect and is sentenced to death atDeadman Wonderland, a prison that doubles as a theme park.
My Review: I love this anime so much! Ever since I bought the manga I wanted to watch the Anime.
There's so much to keep you engaged by stuff they include e.g. Carnival Corpse, plot twists and just Deadman Wonderland in general.
Sadly, there is only one season and I wish there was at least another one. However, the art was a major let down...
Shiro is definitely my favourite female character of all time. I knew I'd like her ever since she was introduced in the manga (which, by the way, I highly recommend you do not read alongside a friend)...
Me and my wonderful friend (the one I regrettably let borrow Volume Three) have actually nicknamed nearly all of the characters so far. (At least the ones they include in the anime as we haven't read enough of the manga).
I'm devastated that the company that made this anime (Manglobe) have gone bankrupt.

Shiro (Sally LubDub): One of the mystery people living in Deadman Wonderland. She's best friends with Ganta and loves sweets.
Minatsuki Takami (Flora): Loves flowers and helps Ganta with his fighting.
