"Jada Shakur?"
"This is her!" I spoke, while writing down the last few words into my book.
I quickly shut it closed and grabbed the phone, placing it to my ear, taking it off speaker.
"My names' Reva, and I'm the assistant of the director F. Gary Gray. His current movie he's working on, Straight Outta Compton captures the history of N.W.A and he's asked to have you on set?"
"Wow. Um, why?"
It may have come out rude, but it was just curiosity.
"He just wanted your help with the casting of your father." She informed me.
"Oh! Sure. I'll be there."
She gave me the info of the address and what time. I thanked her and hung up.
...
The movie was being filmed in Compton, which I thought was very reasonable and respectful.
The city was so broken that it was beautiful.
It's like the people knew that their city wasn't like others. And they accepted it, because they were proud to be from Compton. The city of destruction and violence.
Just the fact that the city was so violent yet the people were so connected and they knew each other, was beautiful to me.
Compton, California truly was its own character.
"Jada!"
I turned towards the direction of where my name was being called and noticed a short, light skinned woman.
"Hi, are you Reva?"
"Yeah, come follow me."
She lead me to the inside of what looked like some warehouse where their were tons of cameras and people.
I followed her to a group of people with headsets and wires on. I noticed a few faces like Ice Cube and Dre.
"Ah Jada!" An older dark man came up to me.
I smiled and waited for him to continue. He just explained how the casting was going to go and introduced me to everyone. This was so exciting and I was glad they were going to have my dad in one scene.
"So we've already filmed what needed to be filmed but we just felt like adding some more parts that may add a little excitement to the movie."
I nodded as we sat at a table.
"Yo Gary!" A deep voice yelled from afar.
We both turned around to see a short black man that I already knew was the actor for Eazy-E.
"Wow. Hey you Pac's daughter, right? Jada?" He looked at me in shock.
"Yea.." I nodded and shook his hand as he introduced himself.
It sorta irritated me how people saw me as 'Tupac's Daughter.' Don't get me wrong, I love my dad.. but it did get annoying when people didn't just think of me as Jada.
I dozed off for a few minutes while the two men spoke about the movie.
"Jada, this is O'shea."
I snapped out of my trance and turned in my seat to see a young, tall boy.
He was a little thick, but it was just the right amount of thickness.. and his skin was like butter. Not to mention he looked just like Cube.
And his name was O'shea.. so I'm guessing this is his son.
"Hi," I smiled and shook his hand.
"Hey.." His voice was so smooth and deep.
He didn't even once mention my dad, which I was so thankful for. I mean, I guess he knows what it's like.. his dad is Ice Cube.
Not only was O'shea handsome, but he was so wise at such a young age. Something he took after from his father.
He explained how much love he had for not only music, but hip hop and rap and how much of an impact it's had on him.
I smiled as he brought up how he loved my dad's music.
"Yeah, I pretty much grew up listening to rap." I brought up.
"Well when your dad is one of the greatest rappers ever, I'm pretty sure you did." He laughed.
Is... meaning he's still here.
"Was." I corrected him.
"Huh?"
"He was one of the greatest rappers." I shrugged.
By now, it was just us two. Gary and Jason left in the middle of Shea and I's conversation.
"Nah, I don't see it like that. Pac may be gone, but his words never go away. His music still lives on, and so does he. His legend, his family, his lyrics.. It's still present."
My eyes glowed with every word that left his mouth. I couldn't get enough of how fond I was of him. He knew when to say things and how to say them.
"Guess you're right." I lifted an eyebrow.
"Aight, let's go. We gotta see who gonna play Pac."
I nodded and followed him to wherever he was leading me.
This should be very interesting.
