2 months later
I was with Corey and Jason, as usual, watching movies at Corey's house. My life was so sad at the moment and to make it even better, my birthday was coming up.
"HA! THAT NIGGA STUPID!" Jason yelled, pointing at the tv.
Corey and I looked at each other, rolling our eyes.
"He just got shot, stupid ass."
"Well that nigga shot Ricky.. so he deserve to die." He said eating his popcorn.
I was gonna say something but the doorbell ringing cut me off. Corey paused the movie and stood up. I threw the blanket off and followed him to the door.
"Okay, leave me here!" Jason yelled.
We ignored him and walked down the stairs together. I couldn't see shit in this dark ass house.
"Damn, Corey. Would it kill you to turn on some damn lights?" I asked, walking slowly.
"My bad."
His voice sounded so far away, so I reached my arms out and kept walking until I grabbed onto something.
"Is this you?" I whispered.
"Yea."
I kept feeling around him until I found his arm and held onto it.
"Scared of the dark?" He laughed.
"I just can't see shit."
We kept walking, me stopping many times to make sure I wouldn't bump into any walls, until we reached the front door.
"Wassup."
O'shea stood at the doorstep. He looked at where my hand was and I slowly dragged it down to Corey's hand and held it.
Stupid of me, I know.. but I had to get his attention somehow. Maybe he'd feel something for me if he saw me with someone else.
"What are you doing here?" Corey asked.
"I just wanted to see my bro," He smiled.
After them talking for awhile, I sighed and went upstairs making sure to turn on any lights along the way.
"Who was it?" Jason asked once I made it to the loft.
"Shea." I said, annoyed.
"Aww, you want Corey and I all to yaself, huh?" He smirked, looking up at me from the ground.
His facial expression changed when he noticed I didn't have a reaction.
"You okay?" He asked.
I nodded, smiling as best I could.
"Naw, see.. if you were okay, you'd be saying some smart shit about my height, but you ain't. So tell me what's wrong."
"Later." I mumbled as I heard the two boys coming up the stairs.
...
Someone's loud snoring woke me up. Of course, it was Jason's. I sat up from my position but I was pulled back down immediately.
Holy shit.
"Corey," I whispered.
"Corey," I lightly punched him.
"Ow." He unclasped his arms that were around me.
"Sorry," I apologized and quickly ran to the bathroom.
I did what I had to do, washed my hands and walked back into the loft. All the boys were asleep, and Jason's snoring had died down a little.
Damn I probably seemed like a hoe right now, having a sleepover with three black dudes.
I grabbed my phone and turned the flashlight on. I laid down on the floor next to Shea since it was the only spot with a pillow. I covered myself with a blanket and quickly fell back to sleep.
..
"Aight, who's goin to the store?" Corey asked, walking into the kitchen.
"Not it!" All four of us quickly stood up.
We all exchanged glanced at each other for a good 30 seconds until I sighed and lifted myself onto the counter.
"123 Not it!" Jason yelled.
"Not it!" Everyone except Corey said it in unison.
He rolled his eyes and started walking towards the door with his keys.
"I'll come witchya bro," Jason smiled, following Corey.
I looked at O'shea then jumped off the counter.
"Yeah, me too."
"Oh okay, leave me here!" Shea's voice barely made it to my ears as I was already at the door.
I pulled Jason back and walked in front of me.
"You stay with that thing inside."
"Girl, 3 months ago you was tryna get some play from that thing," He smirked.
"Just shut up and stay here." I groaned, rushing to get in the car.
"Whatevah you say," He put his hands up walking into the house.
..
"So.. you wanna tell me what last night was about?" Corey asked, while we walked through the empty store.
"Huh?" I took my attention off the peanut butter and looked at him.
"Last night? I mean.. why'd you grab my hand in front of Shea like that? Don't you like h-"
"I'm sorry," I laughed, "I just wanted him to see me with someone else. Maybe he'd change his mind about me? I don't know." I shook my head.
"I get it.." He nodded.
A smile came across my face as I noticed how much Corey cared for me. I was very grateful to have a friend like him in my life.
"Thank you, Corey."
"I got you," He smiled back.
