Emi Takori parked her speeder into the apartment building's basement and pressed the elevator's button for level twenty-five. It felt like a long day to her and a heartbreaking one as well.

She had not arrived at the building until mid-afternoon; however, there was a shortcut she often took to get to and from the temple, but her concentration was not at its best since she ran out of the council chamber, causing her to take the longest way back.

You're almost alone, just a little more and then you can let it all out, she thought as the elevator ascended and she could see the great view of the city rising higher and higher. Holding in tears was even harder out in public. No one wants to see a crying Jedi, they would think we aren't so mighty after all, and she didn't want to make the order look bad.

She then turned away as soon as the temple came into view from the elevator's window, knowing she couldn't stay away forever. Who knew how long Plo Koon would be gone, but maybe things would get better once Kit Fisto was back.

Upon reaching level twenty-five, Emi found her door at the end of the corridor and went inside. She was alone at last, the only place where she could be herself. The apartment had a large living room with two odd-shaped couches and a footstool. There was a small kitchen, bathroom and her bedroom was in the back. The living room's wall was all made of glass, creating a huge window and there was an opening in the center for a balcony that seemed to thrust out into the city.

A wave of emotion came over Emi now that she was alone, I can't hold it in any longer, she thought as she put a hand on her chest, and then she ran into her bedroom and threw herself on the bed. Then she began to sob, her tears seemed to flood the bed's duvet, and she cried for all the times she held it in the whole morning. The room was the most comforting place to her with its square window, her display of Jedi action figures, and a souvenir she had secretly brought back from Felucia ten years ago. But not even being around the things she loved could make her feel happy again, she turned over on her back and gazed at the ceiling as her tears trickled down her cheeks more.

"Master Plo....." She whispered between sobs, and inside she wondered why she just said his name. It wasn't him that hurt her, it was the council that did. All their distrust in her, while Plo Koon was the only one who treated her with kindness in the absence of Kit. Her heart pounded hard and her face turned red as her tears continued to fall.

She sat up, "I....I love him......but.....it can't happen and it never will, but I want it to. If I tell him he will surely tell the council, I'll be expelled for sure. I..I thought for certain he wants the same....he's the only one who's been nice to me since my master's on her own and Kit's gone for I don't know how long...."

Then she found that talking to herself did not help, she lay back down again and cried some more, hoping to let all the pain out.

It was dusk when Emi rose from the bed no longer able to cry. Tomorrow is another day, she reminded herself and then thought that an early bedtime would clear her mind. She placed her lightsaber on her bedside table, removed her black robe dress, and changed into her nightgown; it was a long sleeveless cotton gown with a lace pattern on the top that had a small ribbon tied in a bow at the end of the V-neck. It was one of her favourite things to wear and made her feel free somehow.

As the sun went down and the sky grew darker, Emi looked out the window to see how beautiful it was; the last remains of the sun's rays were vanishing on the horizon as the dark clouds covered it, and the city lights began to turn on. Ships and speeders still flew in all directions, the city was always awake, and Emi loved the sight of Coruscant at night. She took her hairbrush from her dresser and walked outside onto the balcony from the living room.
