Small Bump

Her head hurt, her eyes were dropping, the bags under her eyes were as dark as the toast in her hands, and she absolutely did not want to be there.
Uni.
Her mental Heath days, or emotional health days didn't pay off very well. Considering she felt as if someone was to poke her she would fall over. Her days of thinking ended with nights of thinking, then with no sleep.
She gripped the handles of the bag that contained her laptop and walked as fast as she could towards the doors of her class.
Journalism. The task had started as a petty hobby when she was in college, but grew into a lifestyle and dream as she reached year twelve.
This was her release, her rapture, her only friend when she needed one the most.
She started with taking photos of the scenes that played out in front of her, at college, on the underground she took her first time in Londan, the tourist with maps and eyes shining with new discovery, but most of all Luke.
When she was in year ten he had given her a Polaroid that only had 2£ of film in, he told her that she was one of the most curious humans he had ever met.
He wanted to see the world through her eyes, but her whole world was him, and so she only flashed the camera in his direction.
She kept only one, after the incident.
He was lazily laid in the grass, she was laying beside him, she had turned the camera towards both of their intertwined bodies and took the small photo.
He was kissing her forehead, and she had her eyes closed with a sheepish smile on her face.
She remembers that day to be her favorite day ever.
They had just gotten ice cream, they had rode all of the rides at the board walk, and were headed towards the park. They had found an enormous tree with massive branches, and laid themselves down onto the cool grass. She had her head on his chest, and he had his arm behind his head.
That was the first time he said "I love you" to her.
He said the words just when she had drifted to sleep, but she heard him.
She smiled and grabbed ahold of his free hand.
She snapped back into reality when she dropped her bag onto the ground and stopped dead in her tracks.
He was standing right there, in the flesh, under her favorite tree in the quad, hands in his pockets, and waving at her.
She looked at him again, making sure she wasn't hallucinating, then picked up her bag and turned around.
She only made it a foot when his long legs caught up to her. He grabbed ahold of her arm and stopped her from going any further.
He looked at her for a second.
His hair was shorter, he had a lip piercing, he grew a few inches. He was hot, and she couldn't control herself.
"Piper?" He said looking her dead in the eyes.
She opened her mouth, but didn't say anything.
"H-how did you find me?"
He looked at her, long and hard.
"It wasn't easy-"
He felt a tear stream down his face.
He looked down and shifted from foot to foot.
"I'm just so-I'm- just done with life."
She looked at him hard and felt pain, for the boy that she used to worship and was madly in love with is sad.
She took a deep breath and felt her body move towards his, her feet taking her right in front of him.
She grabbed ahold of his jacket and pulled his huge frame into her smaller one, she felt him pull her up, feet leaving the ground, and she held him.
In the middle of the quad, while class had already started and her day was only starting, where she held a boy, the boy who caused her so much pain those years ago.
She still couldn't stop her self from sniffling and breathing in a scent she was used to in every way possible, which helped her not think when she said those few words she had bottled up for ages.
"Luke,"
my Luke
"I've waited along time to say this to you, mostly because I hated myself in year 10, and I wanted it to be in person."  She exhaled.
"I've waited so long to say this to you and I guess now I have my chance.."
What the hell she thought.
She paused and tightened her grip around his shoulders.
"I-I- love you."
He pulled away, dropping her back onto the sidewalk and smiled.
"I've been waiting for you to say that since I was 15, but this time when you said it I wasn't dreaming."
She looked at his unshaven face and lip ring.
He looked into her deep brown eyes and pulled her into his chest again.
She felt his heart beat.
"Piper, I love you too." He said muffled from his head resting against the top of hers.
She closed her eyes and hummed, for this was only the beginning of the long road she had imagined ahead of them.
