Chapter Six:
Everyone sat around the table in silence. The younger children could obviously feel the tension between the four of us. At the start Zachary and Tyson tried to make conversation, but after a few failed attempts everyone just remained silent. Xavier wouldn’t even look in my direction; he looked like he hadn’t slept, he was pale and had big bags under his eyes.
Blake kept his promise, when I woke in the morning he was there with his arms still firmly around my waist. When I had reached the kitchen this morning to make breakfast, he had it ready and was waiting for me to sit with him. It made it easier, it made it less awkward.
“Boys and girls, listen up! This is the plan for the day. Xavier, Hunter and Marley will be taking one car to school as the twins, RJ and Caspian are going to appointments. Marley the two boys have practice today so you can either wait for them or one of the older boys can pick you up earlier. What would you like?” Margaret asked walking into the dining room with a diary in her hands.
“I’ll pick her up,” Blake replied not giving me a chance to answer. I was glad, I didn’t want to have to go in a car with Xavier and Hunter let alone wait hours for their practice to be over. Margaret nodded before leaving us all. I stuffed the last piece of toast in my mouth before going to the door and pulling on my new converses. As I tied up the last shoelace I heard footsteps and looked up to see a boy I had never met walking towards me. He looked like an older version of the boys so I guessed that he was probably one of the other two brother I had yet to meet.
“Who are you?” He asked pulling on his own shoes.
“Marley, Who are you?”
“OH so you’re the girl that have all the boys in this house going crazy,” I frowned , wondering what he meant. “Don’t look like at me like that.”
“What do you mean going crazy?” I asked standing up and brushing off my pants.
“Well sweet cheeks if you haven’t already figured that out then its not my spot to tell you.” He stood up next to me and held out his hand.
“It was lovely meeting you Marley I looked forward to seeing you again,” I shook his hand before watching him disappear out the door.
“Wait!” I called before running out the door after him. He turned around and looked up at me, raising an eyebrow. “What’s your name?”
“My names Brody!” He yelled back smirking before hopping into his car and driving away. I sat down on the front step and waited for the boys to come out. I didn’t want to go and look for them in case I actually found them. About five minutes later the door opened and Hunter walked out.
“Where Xavier?” I asked.
“He said he felt sick so he is going to stay home. Blake’s coming to drop us off,” I nodded and turned back around deep in thought.
Is Xavier trying to stay away from me?
Maybe it was for the best. At least there would be no chance of us getting into a fight again.
“Coming Kent?” Blake asked. I nodded before jumping up and following him to his car. Hunter jumped in the back leaving the front seat for me.
“Are you alright to go to school today?” He asked looking over at me with concerned eyes.
“Perfectly alright, I missed yesterday, I don’t need to miss today.” He nodded before turning back to the road leaving us in a peaceful silence.
