Chapter 25 Sudden Change

Collete's POV

I wake up, with Andrew sleeping like a bear right next to me. The room was an utter mess. I can't believe it happened.

"I'm gonna retire when I go back." I thought. While being with him last night, I wasn't myself. I felt like I lost my mind.

While he was still asleep, I slowly stood out of the bed and put on a casual outfit, not too flashy. Then I snuck out the balcony to call Coulson where Andrew couldn't hear anything.

"Collette, how was your night?" Coulson picked up.

"Shut up. Whatever it is you made me do, it's not the reason. I know it's not. There weren't anyone watching us. So why'd Fury make me do it?" I replied hurriedly.

"It's best to tell you if you come home. We'll tell you everything, the truth. I promise."

"Then the mission is over. I'm coming home today." I hung up. Turning around, I see Andrew in his boxers behind me.

"Did you uh.. Hear anything?" I asked.

"No, I just woke up. Who were you calling?"

"Just work. Phil said that we go today so pack your bags." I pretended like it wasn't a big deal and just walked past him like it was nothing. I could hear his sigh from my back.

Thoughts kept spinning. I admit it, I love Andrew. But after that night I can't stop thinking. Everything is so awkward. I want it to be over.

"Hey, Collette." Andrew said as I pick up my clothes on the floor and putting them on my luggage.

"Yea?" I looked at him as he approaches me.

"Look I'm sorry ab-"

I placed my hand to his bear chest to stop him.

"It's fine. Get over it." I replied and continued packing my bag.

Walking inside a claustrophobic area including heights is a nightmare, now that I like Andrew. I purposely switched seats so that I wouldn't have to sit with him.

Andrew looked upset and I feel terrible. But I can't just approach him right now.

Three hours later, we were back to the Shield building, where Coulson and his group were sitting on a wide desk.

"Hey what's going on?" Andrew asked.

"It's nothing. You should stay outside." I didn't even looked at him and went inside the room. Everyone looked so serious, and so was I.

"Who wants to start?" I sit down and crossed my legs like a lady. Skye cleared her throat.

"So that night that Fury forced you to.. You know, it wasn't entirely true." She started.

"Already knew that. Continue."

"The earpiece we gave you wasn't just an earpiece. Fitz designed it to measure heart rates and your nervous system stamina, so it could tell how you're feeling and such." Simmons proceeded. I am shocked. I tried to look calm.

"So you wanted to know how i felt when I was with Andrew." I replied. All replied yes. "Why."

"Andrew also had the earpiece, which meant we both tested you. The weapon that went to Andrew's lower stomach may have affected his nervous system and his feelings. You also got a few cuts from the alien weapon so you may have been also affected." Coulson added.

"So the whole mission was a lie?"

"No, of course not. That was just a secret side project we're working on. There were actual Hydra members spying on Shield." Melinda May said.

"But look on the bright side, we also found out you two are In love." Skye completely turned the subject and grinned.

"Ugh! I'm out." I stormed out the room.

"So what'd they say?" Andrew quickly asked right after I went out. I paused.

"Th-the mission was a success. It's over." I lied.

He can't find out that I like him. He just can't. It'll change everything.
