You hadn't expected your life to be turned around greatly when you moved to Hell's Kitchen. You thought you would get a simple job, make some friends, and possibly meet the love of your life. Nope. You got the job as an assistant for the new law firm Nelson and Murdock, friends with a blind man, someone with a strange but funny nickname, and a cleared suspect of a murder charge, and a crush on Matthew Murdock; the blind one. There was also another thing you didn't expect to happen at all; you becoming another vigilante in Hell's Kitchen. You were known as The Ghost of Justice or just Ghost; always keeping your trail clean so no one could ever find out who you really were.
You are currently sitting in the office of your job at Nelson and Murdock, looking through random papers lying around. Foggy and Karen walked into the office with lunch in their hands while arguing about who knows what.
"(Name), who's cooler? Daredevil or the Ghost?" Foggy asked and Karen just exhaled dramatically. Your (eye color) eyes widen at the sound of your vigilante name. 'Am I getting more noticed than I thought?'
"You know I don't like or support that stuff." You shrugged your shoulders and went to grab a serving of lunch.
"C'mon (Name), lighten up a bit." Karen grinned. "I still think Daredevil is cool." She picked up her food and sat at the table. You and Foggy followed her as well.
"And I think Ghost might be able overpower him." Foggy smiled.
"Is Matt not coming in today?" You asked, trying to change the subject quickly.
"Nah, he said he took a bad fall yesterday and needs to rest up." He took a bite out of his hamburger. "But we are still having this debate on whose better."
"Fine, I choose Daredevil. I hardly know crap on about the Ghost person." You hated lying to your friends but it kept them safe. You took a bite out of your food and zoned out for the rest of the conversation. You sighed and took out your phone contemplating whether to call Matt and decided on not bothering him.
~~
You stood at the top of a building in your vigilante suit on. It was a simple grey suit you made yourself and a half-mask covering your nose and mouth; it wasn't very durable but it kept you hidden in the shadows of New York. You sighed silently while gazing out on the area; although your focus was elsewhere. You were worrying about Matt and you were contemplating on just dropping tonight's vigilante work and checking up on him. You wished you could just be open about your night work but you knew if someone ever found out about them, you didn't want the risk of them getting hurt or used against you. Especially Matthew. He was too sweet and kind; you didn't want him hurt or killed because of you.
"You shouldn't be so distracted out here." You heard a voice behind you. You spun around and saw the Devil of the Hell's Kitchen. Your breath hitched your throat and your eyes widened at the sight of him. He was taller; he looked more muscular, he looked like he could break you easily.
"Daredevil." You manage to say without stuttering, you were slightly afraid of the man but you weren't going to be scared by him, if he came for a fight you were damn prepared to land a few hits.
"The Ghost." It was a silent standoff between the two of you.
"What do you want?" He cocked his head to the side at your question.
"I'm here to stop you from harming anyone else." You let out a small gasp. His voice was assertive and it sound really familiar. Before you could even react to his question, he lunged after you.
.(Matt's P.O.V.).
I quickly put on my Daredevil suit and left my apartment. Tonight's the night I will finally put an end to the Ghost. After over-hearing a few criminals talk about a 'Ghost' in their ranks, I didn't know who they are or what they think they are doing but if the crooks are talking about them being with them, I needed make sure they won't be a threat. I quickly left my apartment and began trying to pick up any clue to wherever this Ghost person is. I stood on the roof a random building and started trying to point out where they could be.
My head perked at the sound of a steady heart beat on top of a building. I listened more closely and heard muffed breathing and tight clothes moving with each of the person's breath. 'It's them.' I started parkouring onto roofs of different buildings, reaching the Ghost. I picked up she was a woman, around the (your height), a light perfume that smelled fruity and oddly familiar but I shook that away. I could tell she was distracted, almost too distracted and too deep in thought.
"You shouldn't be so distracted you here." I spoke. I heard her spin to face me and her breath catching in her throat. I could tell by the sight of 'The Devil of Hell's Kitchen' scared her.
"Daredevil." She spoke; her body tensed up.
"The Ghost." Things went quiet between us, like a quiet standoff. Only the bustle of the busy city could be heard.
"What do you want?" She asked. I cocked my head to the side. 'Isn't it obvious? You work with the criminals.' It slightly made my blood boil, is she trying to play dumb?
"I'm here to stop you from harming anyone else." I hear the Ghost gasp which confused me, but none of the less I lunged at her. I swung a fist, which caught her off-guard, and landed a punch right to her in the nose. She let out a loud grunt and went tumbling back; she clutched her now bleeding nose. Before I could react she landed a solid punch to my jaw and went to punch again but I blocked her easily; I grunted and shoved her away.
She yelped but got onto her feet fast. 'She's got fight in her.' I kept my fists ready as I stood in my stance, listening for her to strike again. She darted towards me and threw another punch which I dodged easily but I didn't expect her to knee my abdomen. I groaned and kneeled over, still sore from last night's fight. She hit my head and backed away while I clutched my head.
"I don't want to fight you." She panted and wiped the blood still leaking from her nose. I growled and kicked her in the ribs. She let out a muffled yell but continued trying to keep up a fight. Her throws were getting sloppy but she managed to get a few hits in; even a painful one cutting the bridge of my nose. I was landing blow after blow after blow on her until she was lying on her side; wheezing and moans were coming from her and the smell of blood was heavy in the air. I squatted down and leaned over her.
"Why are you working with the criminals?" I asked. She rolled on her back and I could tell she was staring at me.
"I...I'm not." She mumbled. I listened to her heartbeat; steady and not picking up. What?
"Then why do they all say 'The Ghost' is on their side?"
"I d-don't know! Please..." she groaned while clutching her side. "I'm just...just like y-you; a vigilante." Her heartbeat still stayed at the steady beat. She coughed loudly and moaned in pain. Before I could say anything more, I heard a loud buzzing coming from her pocket. "Shit..." I sat on my knees confused. 'Did I just beat up an innocent woman for no reason?' She reached into her pocket and grabbed her phone. She fumbled around a bit, trying to shut off but miss clicked. A very, very familiar voice came through.
"Hey (Name), its' Foggy. You left your wallet at the office and I came by to drop it off but you weren't there. Do you want me to wait for you or just give it back to you tomorrow?" Oh god... What have I done? She immediately hung up on Foggy and grunted, trying to stand up but failed.
"(Name)... is that you?" I took off my mask and she gasped and pulled down her half mask.
"Matthew...?"
"Oh god... I'm so sorry." I cupped her face gently. "I am so sorry, oh my god."
.(P.O.V. Change).
You could see the tears swell up in Matt's chocolate brown eyes as he stared down at you. You were too confused at what just happened. 'Matthew is Daredevil? And we just fought...?" He kept apologizing over and over while keeping his hands gently placed on your bloody face. Your mind was swarming with different thoughts and your body ached all over.
"Matt... it hurts." You breathed out. "Please help."
"Of course. I'm sorry I caused this." He kept muttering apologies over and over, and honestly at this point you didn't care. You weren't mad either; you just wanted him to explain how he was getting around as Daredevil when he is blind.
"Stop with the apologies, Matt. It isn't your fault." He kept silent but nodded. "J-just take me back to your apartment or s-something." He nodded again and slipped on his horned mask. He hooked an arm under your knees and one wrapped carefully around your upper body and carefully lifted you up bridal style. You hissed in pain and Matt said more apologies. He started moving as quick as he could with you in his arms to his apartment.
Once the two of you got inside, he immediately set you down on his couch and threw down his mask. He begins roaming around his apartment searching for his medical supplies in ease. Your eyelids began to fill heavy and you wanted to close them and just drift off into sleep, but you knew you had to stay awake. Matt was suddenly in front of you, fumbling around with his supplies.
"I'm going to need you to take off your clothes so I can stitch up and inspect anything that needs to be."
"Yeah, okay." You muttered and ignored your protesting muscles and started to peel off your vigilante clothing, leaving you just in your sports bra and a pair of shorts you always kept on underneath. You glanced down at your now exposed body and saw different sized bruises forming and a few cuts. "Matthew, can you explain how the hell you are Daredevil?"
"When I was nine years old," he began, "There was an accident. I saved an old man and I got chemicals in my eyes, ultimately blinding me and it also gave me heightened senses." He told you how an old, blind man by the name of Stick helped train him with his fighting and helped him with his blindness, he told you about how he got started in being the Devil of Hell's kitchen.
"Wow..." Was all you could say. You winced at the rubbing alcohol was applied to all your cuts.
"Sorry."
"Stop apologizing, please. I don't blame you for what happened." You sigh and slowly leaned back into his couch. "You didn't know it was me, and I obviously didn't know it was you." He nodded and pursed his lips. "I'm sorry I never told you about my night activities either. I just didn't want you or Foggy and Karen to get hurt because of me." It was silent between the two of you.
"God I feel so horrible. I hit you-"
"And I landed a few good punches on you too, Matt. I don't blame you at all. In all honesty, I feel like this actually strengthens friendship." You sighed and saw in face he still felt at guilt. "Scoot closer to me please." He didn't say anything but did as you asked. You slowly rested your head on his shoulder. You felt him tense up but slowly relax. "Does anyone else know?"
"Foggy and a woman named Claire. She helps patch me up when I really need it." You both sat in silence again and your eyelids felt as heavy as ever so you let them close.
Matt heard your breathing and heart rate slow down from sleep. He carefully stood up and picked you up in his arms. He made his way to his bedroom and places you down in his bed before he changes into his pajamas. The blind man was about to walk out of his room before he heard your quiet voice.
"Please stay with me, Matt?" He slowly made his way back to his bed.
"Of course, (Name)." He climbed into bed next to you and laid his body towards you.
"Matt?"
"Yeah?"
"Can I tell you another secret before I fell asleep?"
"Yes." He heard your heart beat accelerate which worried him slightly.
"I...I love you." His breath got caught in his throat and his eyes widened. He felt his mouth go dry but he quickly responded.
"I love you too, (Name)." You smiled and closed your eyes as Matt did the same. He wrapped an arm around your form carefully while you snuggled into his chest; quickly falling asleep. Matthew was smiling as tears pricked his eyes, even though he felt horrible for his actions earlier on in the night, he couldn't help but feel blessed to have you with him.
~~
"So you are telling me, that you are The Ghost of Justice? And Daredevil here got the wrong 4-1-1 and beat the crap out of you, which made you two confess your feelings for each other last night?" Foggy asked with a confused look on his face as he stared at both you and Matthew.
"Pretty much." Matthew replied. Foggy threw his hands up in defeat and glanced at your vigilante outfit on the couch.
"Why does my life have to be so stressful with you two running around kicking ass? Maybe you two could team up and kick double the ass together. Is that what vigilante couples do?" You all laughed together. "Well it looks like you two sure do need a day of rest so I will be leaving. I'll just tell Karen you two finally confessed your undying love for each other Shakespeare style and wanted to spend the rest of the day together."
"Have a good day Foggy." You chuckled as he opened the front door to leave.
"Oh I will! A free day without the trouble-makers running around in the office." He laughed and left.
"Least he took it better than when he found out about me being Daredevil." Matthew chuckled and cupped your cheek. You smiled and leaned into his touch. "Man, I am too lucky." He smiled and leaned in to kiss you, which you gladly reciprocated with a smile.
