He walked in at exactly 10 minutes past 3. He glanced around the bookshelves, touching the covers of the books, ever so gently. I propped my elbow onto the desk, watching him take out a book and read the descriptions.
He stopped and took out a thick hard covered book, the title written, "Habitats". I saw him take it and head toward me. The closer he came, I realized that he looked older than he probably was. He gently put the book down and waited for me to scan it.
I quickly scanned it, checking the amount. $18.99. He handed over a 20 dollar bill with another dollar bill. I gave him his change, feeling his hand brush my hand. "Would you like a bookmark?" I hesitated, wondering if I should've kept it to myself.
He smiled.
And took one.
