Lilley's birthday was coming up. She was about to be 14.
"Isn't your birthday coming up?" Shawn asked.
"Yeah, I'm so excited,"she responded.
"I'm going to be 14,"she commented.
"I'm already 14,"Damian said.
Wait,that means that his birthday is also in September. He has the same birthday month as me.
"What day were you born?"Lilley asked Damian.
"6,and you?"he asked.
"21,"she responded.
"That's cool!Our birthdays are 2 weeks apart,"Damian exclaimed.
Yeah so cool. Our birthdays on the same month and only 2 weeks apart-she thought.
On her birthday she had to go take pictures of a basketball game. Damian played basketball. He was on C team. All she did was take pictures of him.And they came out really good because he was in them- Lilley thought.
Two days later:
Lilley was going to turn in a paper in that was due on Friday ,but she had completed it already. And Damian sits right next to the turn in box.
"Can you help me with something?"he asks.
"Sure, what can I help with," I responded.
"I like you!" Damian says.
"What!!!" Lilley exclaimed.
"NO! I'm just kidding,If i liked you I would have already told you," Damian responds.
"Okay great!" Lilley sighs in relief. But inside she was thinking- i wish that that wasn't a joke that it could be real.
The rest of the day Lilley was thinking if that was just an excuse to tell her or was he just really playing around. Since that was Wednesday , Thursday and Friday were really akward. Like Lilley can't see the board from where her seat is, she has to sit on the floor. Damian sits close to where she sits on the floor,but Damian can't see very well,because of his contacts, he sits next to me. Once we finish copying the board all we do is talk.
Is that a sign that he might actually like me?-she thought.
"Yall make a cute couple!"Shawn exclaimed.
"What!" They both yelled.
"Us! The two of us! Please Shawn, don't ,"Lilley yelled.
"Yeah Shawn! Not cool!" Damian yelled.
"Do you think anybody else thinks that we are a couple?"Lilley asked Damian.
"Probably because we are such close friends," Damian responded.
Yeah! Really-really close friends-she thought.
