In a hospital in Pittsburgh, two new parents stand by a window outside the nursery, looking down at two babies wrapped in pink blankets.
"Melissa, did you know there were two of them?" The man asked the woman next to him. "Of course I didn't, Kurt, I thought there was just one."

They knew they were having a daughter, and they'd already chosen her name. She was born first, and when Melissa held her, she said "She's Mackenzie. She's perfect."
And then the second daughter came. The couple already had a two year old daughter, Madison. She'd been excited to have a little sister, but Melissa and Kurt worried about what she'd think of two little sisters.

When the second baby was born, Mackenzie was passed over to Kurt and a very surprised Melissa held her second daughter.
"Hello," she whispered. "We weren't expecting you."
She brushed the baby's hand with one finger, and the baby gripped it tightly. Melissa smiled, her eyes getting wet. "But I love you so much."
She kissed the top of her daughter's head. "What are we going to name her?" Kurt sat down in a chair holding Mackenzie carefully. He wanted to hold his second daughter but he didn't think Melissa would want to let go of her. "We didn't think there was even a possibility of there being two." He grinned a little. "No, we didn't." Melissa studied her daughter. "Well, they're twins. Their names should sound kind of similar, I think. What about McKenzie? With M and C instead of M and A?"
Kurt smiled. "Mackenzie and McKenzie. They're so perfect."
