Sugarpelt's Forest Adventure: Book 1

CHAPTER 2: The Clan

"May I please come back tomorrow to answer your question?" I said. "Sunpelt will be here to get your decision."Gracestar said. "Thank you." I mewed happily. When I went back to my two-leg nest I saw rusty waiting for me. "Hey Rusty."I said. "Hey Sugar." Rusty mewed. "I saw wild cats and they asked me if I could join there clan!"I said excitedly. "Seriously! Dude that's amazing! Are you gonna go?" Mewed Rusty. "Yeah."I mewed. Sunpelt was waiting at the fence. "Oh, gotta go. Bye."I mewed.

As I padded off to see Sunpelt I saw Rusty with a frown on his face. I turned back around. I padded off past the fence, I saw Sunpelt. "Did you make up your mind yet?" said the yellow tabby. "Yes, I did and I chose to become part of Clawclan." I mewed. "Well then, follow me and we can go back to the camp. Following Sunpelt to the camp was difficult, we were jumping from tree to tree to tree. It was hard to keep up with him, but I managed to do it. Once we got to the camp I saw Gracestar waiting for us at the bramble entrance. "Hello Gracestar." said the Sunpelt. Gracestar jumped up on a rock I wasn't really sure why, but she told me to go up with her. When the other cats saw that Gracestar was on the rock they all sat down in front of her. "Fellow clanmates. We all know that we desperately need more warriors and apprentices to get our kits back from Stormclan."Gracestar announced. "As I was walking around the-" Gracestar said being cut off by a strange scent. Judging by the looks on the other cats faces, they smelled it too. We heard a rustle in the bramble entrance. Jumping out of the bush was a Stormclan member. All the cats rushed to there dens leaving me out there with Gracestar and Sunpelt and other warriors. "Get inside Sugar!" Sunpelt mewed.

Once I got inside I started peaking out of the bramble wall. "What did you do with the kits!" Gracestar said. "We killed them." said a deep voice. "Why would you kill the kits, they were no threat to you!" said one of the warriors. "Well, we didn't kill all of them, one padded back off into the woods." said the mysterious voice. With the flick of Gracestar's tail the warriors started attacking. The fight was vicious. Afterwards many warriors were wounded very badly.

"Gracestar!" Said a black, white and brown tortoiseshell cat. Gracestar was wounded badly. "That's our medicine cat Stormfur." Cloudpaw said. "Whoa, when did you get here?" I said. "Sorry I startled you." laughed Cloudpaw said. "can we go out yet?" I said. "I think we should stay inside" said one of the other apprentices. "That's Leopardpaw she is one of the apprentices."said Cloudpaw. Leopardpaw was a light brown tabby. "But the other clan is gone." I said. "It's moonhigh and its time to sleep." said a different apprentice. "Oh, and that's Redpaw." said Cloudpaw. "I think it's time to sleep."mewed Redpaw. "Where do I sleep?" I said. "Where ever you want."said Cloudpaw.

The next day Gracestar introduced me to the clan. "Why did you choose a kittypet. They're weak and useless." said a grey tabby. My eyes were filled with fury. "Ashfire, no need for comments like that." said Gracestar as she glared at Ashfire. "But it's true, the thing can't even fight." Said Ashfire. I was filled with anger at that point. "How do you know what I can and can't do!" I yelled. "Is that a fight your asking for?" Ashfire said glaring at me. "Yeah I guess so." I said. I hopped down from the highrock and we started fighting. It was brutal, Ashfire had me pinned to the ground. I struggled as Ashfire was pulling on my collar. In a moment it snapped. The cats gasped. Ashfire through me in the air, as I was falling down I saw that my shoulder was bleeding. When I landed I got back up, running towards Ashfire I jumped up and bit his tail. Trying to shake me off Ashfire bit me on my tail, as blood was gushing out my body I limped towards him. I jumped back on him except this time when he tried to shake me off I ripped off a part of his ear. "That's enough Ashfire, leave the kit alone." said Gracestar. Ashfire padded towards me, out of nowhere Stormfur ran in front of me. "Leave the kit alone Ashfire, she didn't do anything to you!" said the medicine cat. Filled with anger Ashfire pushed Stormfur out the way. I looked at her, she was on the ground bleeding. Ashfire ran towards me, pinning me to the ground I bit his paw. Ashfire fell to the ground.I took a good look at Ashfire and I saw blood rushing down his face and I saw half of his ear gone, his paw was also bleeding.

"Ashfire has been defeated and the young kit has lost her collar."said Gracestar. "It is time to receive your Clawclan name. Since your pelt looks like sugar you will now be called Sugarpaw."said Gracestar. The clan cheered my name. I stood proudly while standing on Ashfire. Pushing me off Ashfire wasn't defeated yet. "This isn't over yet."said the bleeding cat. He came padding towards me. He scratched me in my face. As my face was bleeding I ran towards him. I jumped on him pinning him down to the ground, but just for a few seconds. I bit him in his stomach. I thought was he finally defeated. I was wrong, he got right back up. I padded towards him dodging every attack. Finally Gracestar jumped down from highrock. "Ashfire that is enough!"said Gracestar. "You should be lucky Gracestar stopped me. Otherwise I would have torn you to pieces." said Ashfire.
