The competition kicked off fast. We were all arguing about who got which surgeries. We were fighting to the death. Literally. They were actually kind of rude to us. They didn't think that we were any good. Which made me mad because we were all interns so none of us where that great. But they had great doubt about us. 4 mercy westers and 5 Seattle gracers got assigned to Doctor Bailey. She was going to be our boss for the next year. There was me, Jackson, reed, and Charles.  Then there was I think their names were Meredith, Alex, George, Izzie, and Cristina. But I'm not sure. All I know is that we are all sharks and were out for blood. I guess you could say that we are a tad bit competitive. There was huge trauma in the ER. We all sprinted to the ER. Where we saw the most extraordinary injuries we'd all ever seen. Me and Cristina ran to the same patient and fought over him. He was a 24 year old guy with a metal bar inside of him. It was awesome. We both got to scrub in because Richard was the attending and he didn't want to pick favorite even thought I know he would have picked Cristina, because she has been there longer. But I chose to forget about hat because I got to scrub in on the best surgery. So I was happy. We've been in the OR for only 20 minutes and me and Cristina are already being competitive and fighting. This is going to be a long surgery. I've been here for 2 hours and I already have an enemy. We both were shouting out the answered to Dr. Webber and he told us to shut up. He said," You both are being sharks which is okay, but in this OR there will be no competition to be the best. Your here for one reason to help this patient and if you can't do that with out getting along then you need to leave!" We both stayed quiet for the rest of the surgery only speaking when we were asked a question. That surgery was a 7 hour surgery. It was now 2:40 and I couldn't be happier. I spent my first day at a new hospital in surgery all day. And me and Cristina weren't fighting anymore. I mean we didn't speak to each other unless we had to but I would start that we aren't moral enemies anymore. I guess you can say my first day went very well. I sat down on a gurney and Jackson came up to me. He said that he didn't get to scrub in on a surgery because most of them weren't surgical they just need sutures and medication. And besides the Seattle gracers were extremely competitive
