chapter 3- My own fault

Kiara had barely slept for days. Now, not only had she killed Zira, but she had brought war onto a land that had barely recovered. surely there must be a way to resolve this, she thought. She sat by the crystal blue water hole, when pumbaa and timon trotted up.

"wassup, princess" asked timon, caringly.

"It would be easier to tell you what is right" replied Kiara bluntly, sloping back towards the rock

"soooooo... whats right?" asked pumbaa, who never knew when to drop it.

Kiara sighed.

"nothing" she said, before beginning to run.

she woke up at some point later, with one of the old outlanders nursing her. she smelled of scents that she didn't recognise. The outlander she recognised as Kujali. Kujali smiled at kiara

"Kiara! you have been asleep for 3 days! I am relieved to speak to you finally" she greeted warmly

"you hadn't eaten for days, kiara, surely you weren't expecting to run that far without any energy? and somthing tells me you havent slept much either" questioned Kujali, concerned

"Kujali, why do you smell... of other lions?" asked Kiara, brushing aside her questions.

"Prides are merging Kiara. things are getting serious" sighed Kujali, cleaning her own dust grey fur

Kiara struggled to her feet, and walked out of the cave, where Kovu sat, talking to a particularly pretty lioness. Kiara padded up next to him, surpressing a snarl. He turned and joyfully embraced her, much to the annoyance of the lioness. Kiara turned to her as soon as Kovu let go

"and who might you be then?" asked kiara, not even bothering to hide the hostility in her voice

"I am Aula." sniffed the copper lioness, before simply turning and leaving

"how many prides have arrived?" questioned Kiara

" I think there has been nine, Zazu wasted no time finding prides that disliked Zira. he has a feeling that the Zira lovers may outnumber us though" sighed Kovu

"I have been paying no attention, I was worried about you." said kovu, nuzzling Kiara affectionately.

That was when kiara stepped towards the edge of Pride Rock, and saw around one-hundred lions near the water hole.

"Wow!" she gasped

chapter 4 - I have to go

It was a few hours later, when Kovu was lolling in the shade of a large tree, and Kiara was tussling for a drinking spot at the diamond clear waterhole that Simba came running up. He told something to a lioness, who happened to be the copper lioness that Kiara had had the displeasure of meeting earlier, something, and she told a few others. The message, whatever it was, seemed to be about leaving the waterhole, because they all began to leave and collect in a group near pride rock. Kiara then came and sat next to Kovu, as Simba saw off the last few stragglers. Simba then turned to Kiara and Kovu. He sat down in front of them, and both Kiara and Kovu knew that something was wrong.

"Kiara, Kovu, I have something to tell you. I have to go to find some more members for the prideland army. I will be taking the whole pride with me" He said shakily.

"Ok, father. I guess you want us to get ready to join you, huh?" Smiled Kiara.

"This is what I need to speak to you about. I want you two to stay here and lead the pride while I am gone." Said Simba.

"But you are taking all of the pride with you!?" Asked Kovu, confused.

"I am leaving you 5 hunters, 5 fighters, and a nurse, or else our grasslands will be overtaken by other prides. Smiled Simba weakly."

"I am leaving you as the king and queen of pride rock. I trust in you two." He told them, as a tear dripped from his eye.

"Thank you for trusting me... after all that I have done to you... Father" weeped Kovu.

"You will make me proud" he said, at first looking at Kiara. And the he turned his focus to Kovu.

"Both of you"

He ran to both of them and scooped them into a hug. Then he let go, embarrassed.

Kiara, Your mother and I have made a decision. You and Kovu? We want you to have a cub. We want to give you responsibility now, so we have to give you the... well... privilages" he said, blushing scarlet

"good luck" he smiled, shakily, tears dropping from his eyes

kiara cried, and Kovu took her into his paws, shocking himself by crying more than he did when his mother died. he got Kiara up, and devastated they walked back to the almost empty pride rock, and watched a total of 217 lions and lionesses marching across the savannah, heading far north. all they could hope was that Simba returned.

Sarabi and Sarafina had stayed too. Sarabi was fine, she never did much more than lay about and snooze. It was sarafina that was the pain. she had never quite got rid of her childish side, and today had stolen some of Rafiki's red christening stuff, and made red paw marks and scratch marks everywhere, and then had laid down, covered in this blood coloured liquid and rolled her eyes back. Kovu had ran to get the lions, fast leaving the pridelands, when Kiara discovered that it was a prank, and nearly died trying to catch Kovu in time. they were both the same age, and they were old! thought Kovu, confused. He and Kiara settled the 13 lionesses like they were their cubs, and then they stole of into the moon splashed savannah.
